So one of the things I miss the most since going vegetarian is beef jerky - I always liked the convenience of being able to grab a high-protein snack on the go (without it being a protein bar as most of them taste kinda gross and are high calorie/high sugar), so I Googled vegetarian/vegan "beef" jerky, and Louisville Vegan Jerky Co had the best reviews, both in an article I read and on Amazon. It was a little pricey, but it seems like everything that is vegan/vegetarian is pricey and honestly, so is normal beef jerky. I was a little leery about trying it - it's REALLY hard to make something that isn't meat taste like meat - but it is SO GOOD! The flavor is SPOT ON. Even our dogs were sniffing around thinking it was a treat for them haha. It is not nearly as tough to tear/chew as real beef jerky, but honestly that's kinda nice haha! The only thing I don't absolutely love about it, other than the fact that it's an expensive little snack, is that it's made of soy, and I try not to eat too much soy. But for an occasional snack when I'm on the go and need some protein, it's perfect!

Well, I actually did not even get to taste this vegan jerky. My husband ate the whole package before I could even get a taste! He said it was delicious. I am glad he liked it it so much, but I do not think it was a good value based on the price for the amount you get. It was basically one snack sized amount of jerky. Comparable products can be found locally for much cheaper. While I have not seen this particular brand locally so far, there are enough other yummy choices that I would hesitate to purchase this again for the same price. If you do not have a lot of vegan options locally available, this would definitely be a good choice. I would like to see a larger value sized package available, so maybe the rest of us in the house could try it!

I’ve been a vegetarian for over 34 years. I don’t miss much but I was very fond of beef jerky back in my youth. I have tried every brand of vegan jerky I can find (there are many including tempeh strips). The last one I tried was Beyond Meat’s and I was very disappointed. There was a plastic like taste to the flavors I tried although the texture was good. This jerky, although rather pricey, has a nice texture and the flavor is just right. I find it very filling/satisfying so a pack goes a long way. The smoked black pepper is not too peppery at all and the lowest in sugar. Highly recommend! Now if they would just put it in a non-plastic package it would be perfect.
