What is the depth of the side holder on this phone? I have an Iphone 13 Pro with a thick case and am concerned if this will hold or not.

It will hold an iPhone 13 pro. I have personally tried it with an iPhone 7, 8, 10, and 13 pro and also a Samsung Galaxy s9 and s10+. It works great with any phone.

Does this device hurt the CD player?

It hasn’t hurt my CD player, but it does rattle a lot.

What's the ball size or diameter?

I don’t know the size of the ball. It really doesn’t matter because it fits into the part that goes into the cd player. When you receive the holder, it comes in two parts, which fit together to make the holder work for you. I have one of these for each of my two cars. Great item.

Has anyone used this to hold a gps unit? mine is about the size of an iphone xr, not the really large ones available today

It depends more on the thickness. The sides can adjust and hold fairly well. The clips at the bottom that hold it do not adjust, so if it’s really thick it won’t hold as well.
