Do some reading on it!
I love trying new teas, so when this popped up I was very intrigued, Tree bark tea that comes out pink - colour me interested! Before brewing it up I did some internet research and discovered The bark of the Caesalpinia sappan tree, also known as sappanwood, has many uses, including medicinal properties, food colouring, and other purposes. So it sounds very interesting, and the medical uses are wide and varied, you would need to check yourself if its suitable for your condition.Regarding brewing you need to boil the bark with water for 2 minutes and strain, on its own its not a particularly pleasant taste, pretty much what you would imagine boiled tree bark tastes like, rather woody!I read some suggestions to add green tea, mint leaves and honey which makes a much more palatable drink, and its PINK!

Don't love the taste, otherwise as described
This product is as-described. It appears to be 100% spree sappan wood.I didn't like the flavour much. Very Earthy. Slightly bitter/tannic. Also note that it recommends that you make 1 L at a time with 10 g, so this package would get you 10 repetitions of that.

Lots of good properties, but definitely an acquired taste.
I’ve now done some reading on Sappan wood, and all kinds of healing properties have been attributed to it. At the least it’s supposed to be antibacterial, antifungal, anti inflammatory, and antiviral. Which seems like a whole lot to attribute to the bark of one tree. I got it for its supposed cooling properties because I’m hot almost all the time, winter as well as summer. It’s bark, or tree chunks, or both, and I believe it’s what it says it is— my garbage disposal really didn’t like it when I dumped what I’d brewed down the sink. It does brew a red/hot pink liquid that tastes like bark. I really can’t tell about the health benefits. I’m not a non-believer in traditional medicine— after all, a wild monkey healed himself using a *plant* and was documented recently— but when the claims are too expansive, I get doubtful. I’ll sip at this and hope for the best, and assume it’s at least fairly good for me, but it doesn’t taste great and I don’t think it’s going to reset my body’s thermostat.

Makes a great tea, but not a strong flavor
When prepared as directed, the tea is a vibrant orange color. When the prepared tea is added to tap water, the orange becomes a very vibrant pink. The color change seems to be an indicator of PH. The resulting tea is more about the color than of the flavor. The flavor is very mild to almost flavorless depending on how much water is used. The color is what's most intense about this product. However, you will need to strain the resulting tea as suggested on the package as some of the wood pieces can be quite small.Overall, I give this Sappan Bark product 5 stars because it is what it claims and it makes a great colored tea. The tea is reasonably easy and fast to prepare. However, you will need to boil the bark for 2 minutes as suggested on the package.
