Can this be used in the winter?

Yes. The heat from the chainsaw warms that stuff up so that it's just as thin as it is in the summer. Really no reason to use winter grade bar and chain oil in my opinion. Thanks!

Is there an expiration date? If so how long does it typically give?

The gallon jugs of bar and chain oil I have currently have a manufactured date of Aug 2019. There is no printed expiration date. I am confident you will be fine for 5 years possibly 10 or more. Hope this helps! Thanks!!
