Good upgrade. Not Plastic
DevilBiss hasn't updated their pictures yet, but the new version is shiny and black. Some have complained about getting a plastic part, but if you put it in a glass of water, you will find that it drops right to the bottom (klunk). It's not plastic, it's very well anodized aluminum.I actually bought it in hopes of getting plastic, because I wanted more acid resistance. Anodized aluminum is probably a good compromise wrt acid resistance though and it's going to be a lot tougher. I ordered a second one, sourced in the USA, expecting to get a second copy with the toughness of aluminum but it looks like this product here will cover it. The Country of Origin for this is listed as "Taiwan, a province of China." I don't think many people in Taiwan would describe their country this way so there may be a risk that this is a counterfeit. Not sure. I'm now seeing descriptions on other sources being updated to "black anodized aluminum" -- despite a bright aluminum picture. So why the change? My theory is this:A lot of the wood-working lacquers ask for "stainless steel fluid passages." In checking around I heard that aluminum cups (i.e raw aluminum) will sometimes darken a bit where they touch lacquer-based finishes or paints. If it should happen to you, there's a risk it might affect the color of your paint. There's a risk that this might happen on a job with that you really care about at a time you are using a light finish or paint. Might this even have some meaningful impact on the cross-linking chemistry? I don't know. My theory is that Devilbiss has anodized this small part of the fluid path to limit this risk. The rest of my gun's fluid path is either stainless steel precision fittings or heavily anodized aluminum. A lot of the prominent, (turbine-driven) wood-working spray guns are stainless steel.I have personally decided to not buy a turbine but to keep my compressor and spend a little more on a good quality automotive style Devilbiss gun (even if I'm mostly wood-working right now). I believe it can do more, has more options and since it is compliant, even when I don't run the optional HVLP aircaps, I can make it do what I need off of a good quality 7.9 cfm at 90psi air compressor -- without having to buy a higher CFM but lower pressure turbine. Staying with a compressor saves me money, garage space and allows me to take keep taking advantage of all the air tools out there. But corrosion-proofing your fluid passages, buying a plastic paint cup, etc. seems important, so that's why I bought this fixture. It's not stainless steel, just anodized, but Devilbiss makes good quality wood-working guns that appear to be anodized aluminum with stainless steel fittings and they are a high quality company. I also don't store paint in my gun after spraying. Some people do.Buying this black-anodized fixture allows me to stay in the world of air compressors and good multi-purpose high-quality guns, and to avoid buying a turbine while still getting some peace of mind about corrosion.

Deceiving photo in ad. Not metal
This is a tough review due to the fact that the part works well with my Gti legacy gun however the part in the ad is metal. The part I received is black plastic. It’s hard to see in the photo but it is plastic. I was surprised, as I ordered this specifically since it was supposed to be metal and I would have expected it to be almost indestructible. I received this exact same plastic part in the DPC-654 Devilbiss demo kit. As I said the adapter works great, it’s just not metal as advertised. I returned the same day. I recommend the part but now you know what to expect.

The pert is plastic not metal
I should have read the other reviews. The part is black plastic not metal. I did try it and it seems to work fine but I agree the clean up long term will be a problem. I will try and find a steel replacement like I have on my other gun.

I'm not as pictured
The media could not be loaded. Let's see threads are the wrong size. They are oversized enough that there is no chance of it fitting I attempted to put it one time and waisted a quart of paint. Do not buy this item.
