This is NOT your average kitchen tool
1.The knifes build quality is very good, the spine is very thick at the back end and tapers down to a nice chopping V. 2 .the handle is solid wood, and held in place with three fasteners. 3.The Huusk has a grip ribbing at the back of the blade that keeps the knife from slipping. A knife has excellent weight( overweight but not too light either) and very good balance. The Huusk comes right out of the box very sharp so be careful I almost cut my finger wiping off the blade! I also own the other husk knife(see photos) and it is razor sharp as well the knife comes with an excellent protective cover that is stylish and as well as practical I suggest you definitely keep the knife in the cover when not in use and definitely keep this knife away from children. The quality of the blade is excellent and the metal is even with no pitting and no defects in the steel, I love the dark black Machining at the top of the blade and the smooth finish on the cutting edge. I've used my other new blade to cut a hogie sandwich straight down the middle through the thick sesame seed bun with very little effort, the cut was clean even and with no tearing of the bun, meat, cheese, or mushrooms on the sandwich. This knife will cut veggies, and meat with ease! You can cut with percesion and get thin cuts you can see through. BUT if you plan on going through bigger cuts of meat like say beef ribs I suggest a larger scale knife. If your separating a thawed chicken or cuts of meat in that size range you'll be amazed at how well this steel cuts. This Huusk knife is now my Favorite prep and steak knife! I just threw out my old 9 inch cutting knife. This is a game changer! The price VS performance makes this a great buy for anyone looking to up their cooking game. I suggest you get a sharpening steel or whetstone to maintain the great cutting edge of this knife. The knife wipes clean with warm water and light soap, I would NOT put this Knife in the dishwasher, after cleaning try a few drops of vegetable oil on a paper tell and wipe down the blade to keep it oiled and new looking. I love this knife.

A skeptically honest review
I will admit, I saw a tremendous amount of negative feedback about this particular blade. From quick dulling, to shoddy workmanship resulting in poor fit and finish, amongst various other things. But, I liked the geometry, of the handle and the size of the blade rather than a larger butcher knife, and as a knife Aficionado with years of making knives as well as sharpening them for about everyone I know, I thought why not give it a chance. If it's not all that, I'm not out much.I was pleasantly surprised.First off the ads are very misleading, this is not hand hammered or forged obviously. It is stamped cut steel, but it is what it is. However, right out of the box, which is actually quite nice, it was actually quite sharp near the front portion of the blade about halfway down. While it did not have the shown and discussed jimping as was in the ad, I was glad that it did not because I personally do not like jimping. It's a fairly hefty piece of steel but not overly weighty, and upon putting it back in the sheath actually cut myself. Not being an amateur, these are just things that happen and that was no one's fault but my own obviously. But at least it was sharp enough to do so.Upon measuring the edge geometry, it appeared to be more of a 30° than the traditional 25° that I like, but I re-honed the rest of the blade to all be 30° so it would be uniform. Having done so, I think this might be advantageous insofar as it retained its edge quite well.First things first, make CERTAIN to give it a proper washing. It is covered in grease, which is a very good thing, and the blackening process of the faux forge needs some cleaning as well. Which of course I did again after sharpening at 30°.During processing of food, I sliced thick breakfast sausage which as we know if the knife is not sharp, will often just mash through instead of properly slicing. It did very well. From there I went to slicing potatoes and dicing them for frying, after which I sliced and diced mushrooms. Throughout the process it never lost its edge.I wear large size gloves, and the handle did not feel too small, and actually was quite comfortable and smooth. The chopping and rocking motion of the blade allowed for a multitude of different types of food processing, and no hot spots. After utilizing the blade in its entirety, it still maintained its edge which I can probably attribute to the 30° angle which in this case is good for something that's also going to chop. At the end of the day, I was quite impressed which I did not expect. Not only would I buy this item again, I would recommend it to friends as it is quickly becoming my favorite kitchen knife, and is very handy in a multitude of different handling positions. While the sheath is slightly thin, it functions well, and carries nicely on the hip. And, should one decide to use this in the woods, which I will try some time when hunting, the spine is quite shard, and actually sharp enough to strike a fero rod without having to re-grind to do so. So overall, I am quite impressed with this blade.

Best knife EVER!
Seriously, this one is just freaking awesome. Absolutely my most favorite knife in the kitchen. It does everything! The quality is amazing, very nicely built and sharpened! Don’t fall for all of those advertisements for those $150+ knives out there, that would be a waste of your money, go with this one instead!! It’s well worth way more than its price. You won’t regret it! Heck, I liked it so much, I bought another one 😂

Amazing Quality but…
The media could not be loaded. In all honesty even though it is made in China, the steel is great quality. I look at 5 things in a knife that are practical for cooking and everyday useDurability - very sturdy and well built, it feels great in your hand and doesn’t feel awkward to hold.Edge - straight out of the box ready, you can cut a whole chicken in 8 pieces without any resistance, be careful not to slice your finger offQuality - no flaws but it’s basically a stamped piece of metalEDC - if I’m being honest, this feels like an every day carry knife. I don’t believe it should be used for outside carving or cutting. But it is a good camping type of knife.Weight- this knife is pretty heavy, but it still feels good when you hold it, makes me feel safe, knowing that I’m not going to slip and pierce my hand. All in all, it’s a really good knife and I would highly recommend it to anyone. As a cook this knife is perfect for any traveling chef. Especially if you’re doing grilling outdoors.Con: the only thing I found weird is that the knife had some sort of weird, sticky substance on the blade. I’m guessing to prevent it from rusting. A little bit of degreaser or Dawn should take it off.I did return this item, only reason being is because it’s a giant hunk of sharpened steel and not a knife. I would recommend spending more for better quality.
