A Great book
I already had the other Penguin Historical atlas books, on Greece,Rome, the Vikings and the Dinosaurs.I also wanted to read this one on Egypt. This is a very good introduction to Ancient Egypt. It came very quick and in good condition.

Excellent Overview
It's an excellent overview and it's not as in-depth as some of the study books on my list I've been reading throughout my first two years studying Egyptology.Would be an excellent book for someone who wanted an introduction into Ancient Egyptian History, it has some lovely detailed maps included. It makes an excellent edition to my little Egyptian library, which now stands at nearly 1000 books on this subject. :-)

Staggeringly good, well worth reading
THese narrow area atlases allow great scope for detailed but clear analysis

Good, but a bit dry
It can be very technical and dry at times. Despite the reading is not always engaging or entertaining, it is an accurate Atlas, there are good graphs and illustration. The content is well researched, so it pays the price if one is patient enough to endure the reading. Works well for consultation.

Great Egypt brought to life
This is a wonderful book with excellent, clear and informative maps accompanied by interesting descriptions of the particular era and important events. Great Egypt for me is a source of inspiration which has never dimmed and this book reinforces and enhances it. Buy it and be inspired. There is only one criticism I have, but this is one which has to do with the very small font or print. Despite having had a new set of reading glasses recently I have a bit of difficulty reading the print. I read and have a great many books but this is the first I have seen one with such small print. In reviews of some other books I have read it is seemingly something that other readers/customers are experiencing. Perhaps, the publisher or author could say something on this?

Excellent Atlas, Excellent Value
This is a survey of Ancient Egypt augmented with a large number of excellent detailed maps. Like any good historical atlas, it is more than just a collection of maps. Each map gets a section of text and illustrations that provide background and context. As with the Penguin Historical Atlases of Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome, both of which I have, I am very satisfied with the balance of information and illustration provided by this book. The maps are all clear, colourful and well printed on good heavy stock. This atlas, like the others, is also in a convenient medium format, ideal for packing along on trips. In my opinion, Penguin has set a standard for this topic that would be hard to match.

A Pretty Good Job
Much nonsense has been written about ancient Egypt, trying too hard tosimplify its huge complexities over 3,000 and more years. Its history ismainly known through Manetho, an Egyptian priest who wrote in Greekfrom sources he could not identify. Known not in Manetho's writing butin references in the works of non-Egyptian writers, like Josephus. BillManley has put together an historical atlas that combines pages of informedtextual information and engaging maps. There are gaps in his coverage, andnot everyone will agree with some of his descriptions or map borderlines. Forexample, he is not very clear on the pre-Israelites and the Israelites. Sad to say, neither is anybody else. But this is as good an historical atlas of ancient Egyptas there is.

Practical
It's a simple atlas (not an ancient history books), very light and useful if you are searching an instrument to locate all that localities of Ancient Egypt you have heard about, but never found.
