Tons of Storage Space
I was running out of hard drive space on my Macbook due to all of my photos. I decided to go with this external hard drive to hold all of my photos and free up some space. This hard drive has a ton of space and was seems to be made specifically for Macs. It was plug and play. I connected the hard drive to my mac and was able to transfer my entire Photos library directly to the hard drive. When I want to look at the photos, I plug the hard drive in and click the Photos icon. It does take a long time for it to come up, but I do have a ton of photos. It takes about 10 minutes, but once it does load up, it is seamless and I have access to my full photo library. The hard drive has a rugged appearance and is in a heavy-duty shock proof shell. It is not the smallest hard drive, but considering its capacity, it is a nice size and is very portable. I love this hard drive and recommend this for anyone that is in the market for one.

Very disappointed
After a mere two months of sporadic use, I encountered severe issues with my hard drive, which have left me incredibly frustrated. Specifically, the device is no longer being recognized consistently, despite my best efforts to troubleshoot and rectify the problem. This is an especially significant issue for me, as I had a substantial amount of content stored on the device that I feared was irretrievable. However, thanks to my knowledge of data recovery methods and a resourceful online community, I was able to restore the lost content and transfer it to a more reliable drive.I also attempted to perform a complete erase of all data on the device to restart it and potentially resolve the recognition issue. While the erase seemed to be successful at first, it was short-lived, and the device quickly returned to its original state of not being recognized. This has been a disappointing experience for me, especially given that I had opted to invest in a higher-end hard drive, believing that it would be a more dependable and long-lasting choice. It's worth noting that hard drives are essential components of any computer system, used to store all manner of important data, ranging from personal documents to business records. As such, it's crucial to choose a hard drive that can provide the reliability and durability necessary to safeguard your information. In particular, it's essential to consider the type of hard drive you're purchasing, as well as its capacity, transfer speed, and overall performance. For example, one key factor to consider when selecting a hard drive is its type, with the two primary options being solid-state drives (SSDs) and hard disk drives (HDDs). SSDs are known for being faster, more durable, and less susceptible to damage from physical impacts, making them an excellent choice for users who need high-speed data access or are frequently on the move. On the other hand, HDDs typically offer higher storage capacities at a more affordable price point, making them a more practical choice for users who require vast amounts of storage space for their data.In conclusion, my experience with my recent hard drive purchase highlights the importance of carefully considering the features and specifications of any storage device you're considering. While a higher-end device may promise superior performance, it's crucial to evaluate its reliability and durability, and weigh these factors against the cost to determine the best value for your needs.

Reformating for Window easier than you think
I bought this drive to use with Windows PCs not knowing it needed reformatting since it is set up from the factory to work with Apple OS. The first problem was my computers didn't recognize the drive in explorer. But it showed up in the control panel under devices. I researched this on Sandisk and Amazon Q&As for the product. It directed me to YouTube and I found a video that took me step-by-step through the process of using the Disk Management feature in the Computer management settings to set up the unallocated volume as a simple volume on the drive with NTFS (Windows only) or exFat (Windows and Apple) format. I used exFat as that is what my Sandisk Extreme drives are formatted in. It took about five minutes on my Windows 10 PC. It was very simple. Don't give up.I then backed up my entire user files, photos and videos from my main PC so I can move it back and forth from work, home, studio. Almost 3 GB, took several hours, but a fast transfer for that much data. It's physically a bigger unit than I had imagined. And, I am going to get a case to protect it and hold it and the cables. There is a small rubber cap that fits into the connector slot the USB-C cable plugs into, so presumable waterproof if you are in a wet environement. But, I'd resist taking it snorkeling with me. Just saying. ;)
