Q: Where does the hydration pack go? I see the hole at the bottom of the bag but the zipper pocket where your back sits, cuts off from reaching it...?

The pocket is directly in the back of the bag. The spot where the back straps connect to the top of the bag, if you lift those straps up underneath is the zipper to the compartment. It's goes across the whole top of the bag. The compartment has a quarter inch to 1/2 inch foam padding that actually makes contact with your back and then the other side is where the bladder or hydration pack goes. The compartment is pretty big. I don't use it for a hydration pack. I use it to carry my 18 in laptop and it's fits perfect.
