I have been exercising to Denise since the 90's. She is knowledgable and logical. Her workouts are safe and will not hurt you! And they WORK. This book is so good in many ways. It really is like her title purports, her focus is on healthy eating, and the side effect will be losing extra pounds. If you follow her diet consistently you will lose pounds. I am 44 and did this for a week, and it worked wonderfully. My only complaint is that the menus contain so many varieties of fruits and veggies, that I had to just pick a few recipes and repeat them during the week. If I am the only one eating this stuff, it's just not feasible to have the different meals and snacks all week long. But with dedication to sticking to the jist of the plan, it works. If you are not accustomed to clean eating, which is preparing all your foods from scratch fresh fruits veggies herbs etc. it will be a shock to your schedule. You need to fully commit to the time it will take to prepare all this health food. But I insist that it will work, you will feel significantly better, you will NOT be hungry. And as a wonderful by-product, you will learn some new healthy eating habits. There are benefits to be had from this book, I originally checked it out from the library, and subsequently purchased it because I kept going back to it, using it for recipes, the diet program etc. She's a great life coach.

Some shopping required
With the diet plan, I lost ten pounds. Shopping required for some items. Capers? Hell I did not know what a caper was but I found them by the olives and they are not bad. If you are a dieter that is not opposed to shopping or preparation of your meals and snacks this one is easy to follow. Good food and you lose weight. What more could you ask for?

Side Effect Skinny
It was not an easy read but I did appreciate all the recipes in the back section. It was informative.

not worth the money
I really like Denise Austin, however, this book was not very informative. I thought most of it was filler and repetitious. Other than the recipes, most of it could have been said on one page. If you are absolutely brand new to diet and exercise and lifestyle changes, than this book is a quick read and may be helpful. For someone like me that was looking for new information, this was not it.

So Far So Good!
I have not yet finished both levels, but so far so good. It is an easy read, she explains everything we need to be eating so we learn how to eat better for our over all health. I have lost 5lbs and I have two weeks to go on this program.

Amazing book with a very specific plan
This book is amazing. I wasn't sure about some of the recipes after looking at them since it is not what I would normally prepare but they were quite tasty. I lost 6lbs in two weeks and two inches off my waist in the first two weeks following her plan. At first, I felt hungry but after getting over that hump, I now find it hard to eat the recommended amount. Very happy with the results I am getting.

Good start for a better tomorrow
My goal was to improve the health and life style of my family. This turned out to be the perfect tool! I especially liked having the menus. I have long been a Denise Austin fan. I have several of her work out videos. My step daughter was the one who recommended this book to me and I in turn have shared my enthusiasm for this book with other family members

No good.
This book was pretty redundant throughout. Also, she believes in eating only 1100 or so calories per day which is not at all good for your body.

Prepare to spend a lot on groceries
I bought the kindle version and I’m glad I did instead of spending money on the hardcover book. It has useful information but the recipes aren’t really thought out well. You have to buy so many different foods (good luck finding some of them in season-not everyone has jicama in their store at all times) and cook so many different things everyday, three times a day. (It would be nice if substitutions for unavailable foods would be suggested.) I understand the concept, but it gets expensive buying all these different foods that might not get used right away or last that long in my fridge! When I came home after spending $100 on groceries, I thought how silly it was. I could have subscribed to WW and made any recipe I wanted. Also, some of the recipes are written to serve 2 or 6 people. Why? It’s only me doing the diet so then I have to guess and portion everything down. I’m sure if you follow it to a “T” the diet will work (it really restricts calories) but you might start pulling your hair out in the process.
