85W Charger for MAC MacBook Pro 15 inches 17 inches (Made Before Mid 2012),Replacement for Magnetic 1 L-tip Power Adapter

I can't speak to durability or even value (I believe there are cheaper versions of this concept out there), but I cannot state enough how immensely convenient it is to have two charging cables for my laptop, and that the one I travel around town with isn't HUGE.I bought my laptop nearly 9 years ago and my cord is starting to near the end of its lifespan. It's honestly amazing that it made it as far as it did. I started medical school recently and the use of my laptop has increased dramatically. I went from pulling it out once a week or so to using it everyday for hours a day. The original cord just couldn't stand up to all the abuse it was getting from being tossed into my backpack, wrapped and unwrapped everyday. eventually I couldn't even wrap it because it was splitting and even sugru wasn't holding it together. Plus sugru is expensive and I wasn't about to buy enough to keep patching the holes that were appearing weekly. Even if I had, sugru makes the cord too inflexible to wrap up tightly.So I searched for a replacement, expecting to pay $80-100 for because it's so out of date. To my surprise, there are plenty of competitively priced options out there! I went with this one because the 85W is what the original charger holds and I wanted to be sure it would charge just as quickly. It does so wonderfully. I love how compact it is, and that it comes with a bag to go in when I'm not using it. This way it's not subject to the constant friction and grime inside my stuffed bag, it takes up much less space and is very light by comparison. No more trying to figure out which cord is poking my back while I walk on campus!Life is much easier now. The original cord stays at home, concealed and plugged in for easy use when I work at my home desk on my laptop. The other cord stays tucked away in the backpack for outside use. I'm one happy customer.

To date, I've purchased over six chargers from different Amazon sellers, but originally shied away from this one due to it's coord length limit (as it doesn't accept the Apple coord extender)I don't know why I waited so long.This charger is the real deal - if you're tired of chargers catching on fire, blowing up, or not charging... wait no more!I'm buying a few more now - if you're sick of inferior MBP 2012 (and earlier) chargers from fly-by-night companies that have no clue about safety/circuit regulation- buy with confidence, your search can end here, I just wish I'd tried them earlier, as I'd have saved about $100 on dangerous chargers by now...So happy - thank you for making a good product at an affordable price.

A very good update on the classic Apple charger design. Well made and stylish design. Smaller than the original too. My wife loves it for traveling with her Mac. Just make sure it’s compatible with your exact model MacBook/MacBookPro.

Thanks for all your help! Definitely recommending you guys. I actually like the charge more than the OEM one. It take up less space and doesn't get insanely hot (hot but like the OEM). Responses were prompt, fixed the weird hum I used to have. I'm satisfied.

Works fine and let us continue using our macbook, but the cord is very short - much shorter than the one that came with the computer. Slight inconvenience, but it did detract from the overall happiness with the product.

This charger replaced our original apple charger that broke. For the money, it is a good value. It's pretty heavy, but so was the original charger. It is also smaller than the original charger so no complaints.

I needed this to check to see if my 2010 macbook pro worked. The charger works but my computer doesnt. So now I have a charger I don't need but at least it works!!!
