SAKURASumoGrip Pencil with Comfort Grip - 0.7 mm Ergonomic Mechanical Pencil - Clear Gray

First off, I am just a fan of writing implements. I enjoy both writing and drawing with a variety of pens and pencils. This one certainly fit the bill so much so that I have ordered each of the lead diameters offered and am on the lookout for the eraser refills. The grip is triangular which both stops it from rolling on your desk if it's tilted and offers a very natural hand gesture for drawing especially. The fact that the twist-up eraser is a real bonus for me is that it is exposed like a traditional pencil. No fiddly eraser cap to hold onto or drop and never find again. The eraser is simply there to use whenever with a flip of the pencil. Great for technical drawing! I don't know what the internal mechanism is, but I haven't experienced any lead breakage. Also, you can manually press the eraser and depress the lead back into the pencil for travel or storage. That was a great feature for me, an old habit from the ancient days of drafting. You can bet I will be enjoying this line with many future refills!

I like my writing utensils to have thick, comfortable grips. The Sakura Sumo is the fattest mechanical pencil I could find. And it's fantastic! Ergonomic grip, weighted toward the bottom for ease of use. I love love love the jumbo eraser. I bought this in blue and black, because I have both sizes of lead here at home. I will probably pick up the white, too.

I used this pencil back when I was in high school and had the sudden hankering to reminisce about the pencils I had then. This pencil is amazing. 0.7 lead pencil with a great grip and an eraser on top. The eraser is pretty good too- I write pretty hard and it'll get everything out. 10/10 Would recommend.

Very comfortable large molded grip that is squishy but not too squishy. I have this in a 0.5 but the lead kept breaking on me so I got it in a 0.7. No more lead breakage but still a fine enough point. I also have some other "ergonomic" pencils (including the Dr Grip), but after using all of them, this is the one I decided to repurchase.

This pencil is sturdy and fits in your hand comfortably. It comes with 2 pieces of lead and about an inch of eraser. (there's a twist to make the eraser retractable) I've seen pencils come with more included lead. However, it is refillable so it's not totally lost. The extra long eraser is wonderful. A pencil eraser is never really able to be fully used because you can't use what's below the holder. It really stands above because you don't have to have a separate eraser but still be able to keep a lot of eraser with you, and the little waste. However, neither the lead or erasers are available for refill in the US, from Sakura. The brand recommends Pentel lead to refill, which works fine since it's the only option, but I found the Sakura lead to be smoother and reliable, and not as squeaky. I refill with Pentel lead anyway but I wish it was Sakura lead. The eraser also isn't refillable, even though the back of the package says that refills are available for the eraser. It will last longer than most, but once it's gone, it's gone. It really is a great pencil all around and I love the lead and eraser, but wish I could replace just those, as needed, with the same product.

As an artist, I especially appreciate affordable, quality tools that make creating sketches and portraits a joy, and this pencil is my new favorite! No more cramps after drawing! Not only is it comfortable to use, but it’s very smooth and has a great eraser. Recommended!

I have calluses on my fingers from writing so much so this pencil really helps. I also have arthritis and this pencil makes writing more enjoyable than painful.
