Planteamiento innovador
El enfoque en la regulación lo hace muy interesante para cursos de Bioquímica en carreras de la salud.

An excellent book!
I bought a used copy of the second edition a few years ago and found it to be very valuable to growing my understanding of human metabolism. The fourth edition is adds a good bit more. Well worth it. Not as difficult to understand as one might at first think. Kudos to the authors for explaining in detail without sending us into the thick weeds.

Concise unabridged and well written
This is THE textbook of human metabolism that everyone on the health field studies MUST HAVE!!!IT IS WELL STRUCTURED,CONCISE AND MOSTLY UPDATED.The clarity of concepts has no parallel.I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND IT TO WHOEVER NEEDS TO HAVE A WHOLESOME INTEGRATIVE APPROACH TO HUMAN METABOLISM.

I payed for new book , wrong,,, used
It caught my attention that at the cover there was a big sticker that said something regarding Student renting program. And the book itself looked kind of damage. Any way I got rid of the sticker (I didn’t take picture at that time), and my surprise was when I realized that the book was highlited. So I guess this book was read, returned and back to sell. Not happy.

The book tries to deal between complexity and didactics ...
Going back to the medical foundations to try to understand the origin of diseases, at least to try, is in a certain way, exhilarating but it also takes time. Years go by and things get more and more complex, there's no way to simplify things. The book tries to deal between complexity and didactics ... I am not saying that it fails in its attempt, but it's as close as possible. It would be interesting if certain metabolic pathways were expanded a bit more. The final integration with the effect of exposing the body to metabolic stress situations is very well integrated. There is another topic that I do not understand, in most of the books used in medical schools, where they fit perfectly with evidence-based medicine and in particular on topics like diabetes. In the same way, the book discusses the new trend in drugs to inhibit or stimulate certain metabolic pathways (with the known consequences of adverse effects), it would have been fantasized what would happen if such a natural product were applied or what would happen if a certain modification of the macronutrients were applied to modify the evolution of insulin resistance increases with age in all people; those topics don't exist in "evidence-based" books, too bad; what better place to fantasize about those topics?Anyway, I feel grateful for the author of the book for his dedication to illuminating people in this not easy path.

Still too fragmented
Probably a good book for an entry-level student. It still presents metabolism in a fractured manner, with reference to "regulation" throughout what is really only a basic re-presentation of traditional metabolism and physiology literature. I was hoping for something more creative and original.

Ok
It was ok, just not what I thought it would be. I was looking for usefulness for teaching.
