¶Flipstick is specifically designed and engineered to address the demand for a lightweight portable seat in the senior, healthcare and leisure markets.¶Flipstick comprises of a tough, durable aluminum stem and a high quality molded plastic seat. A simple press of a button securely locks the handle and seat in either the walking cane or sitting position.¶The non-slip rubber foot will cope with most indoor and outdoor surfaces and can easily be removed enabling the stem to be cut down to allow for perfect height adjustment.¶Flipstick is suitable for left or right handed use.¶Recommended maximum weight usage is 280 lbs.¶¶¶Interesting Note:¶In England, people would call this style of walking cane a 'shooting stick', which was designed for when women went out to watch their husbands duck or bird hunt. They would use these to sit on while watching the men shoot - hence "shooting sticks". Other names used in England and the United States include: Cane Seat', Seat Cane, Walk Stick Seat, and Walk Seat. But, we like the historical nature of the term Shooting Stick best!¶¶View ALL ".

Wonderful cane with seat.
This seat cane is great. I ordered the one on the solid stick so I could shorten it if needed. They say the fold up one you can't shorten. I am 5'6" and the size the stick of the cane is worked okay for me. I bought it to take shopping for when I have to stand in lines and wait. I also use it when I am doing dishes at sink, working at kitchen counters or kitchen bar. I find it easy to slip on and off it as needed, once you get the hang of it. I have never lost my balance or fell off it and I am old. I have a bad back and it hurts to just stand. This really works. I wrapped my seat with black cohesive tape (like hospitals use or sports people use) to make seat so I don't slip on it. You lean on it more then sit on it. Which is what I use to do with my regular hook canes, but this seat is more secure and comfortable. I did buy E Support 2 inch x 5 yards black self adherent cohesive wrap bandages (pack of 10) to wrap the seat which helps it from slipping and secure the can better when resting on a counter. I love this cane. I use it just for when I go shopping. It is very light weight but it is strong. I can walk with the cane better when the seat is flipped out. I am very happy with this product and highly recommend it.

Be careful
Bought this for my mom who is 94 and in great health except she gets tired waiting in line and doing chores at table/counter. She saw it and asked for it. She says that as a cane/walking stick it’s great.I worry that it seems unsteady when she sits on it. One must keep feet well apart and remain bent forward as though to rise to standing at a second’s notice. Holding on to something nearby is best.Be very careful if you’re older and prone to even slight unsteadiness on your feet. Otherwise it seems a pretty well-made and well-thought-out product.

We'll make it work, but ....
Make sure you read the product descriptions closely. This one wasn't labeled "Non-Adjustable." Of course, it wasn't labeled "Adjustable" either, so I guess I should have made sure what I was getting. That being said, the adjustable one only goes one inch shorter from what I could tell when I looked to see if I could return this one. One inch wouldn't help. My husband is a bit over 5'11" tall and this was too tall for him to hike with. Too short for a walking stick, too tall for a cane. Since we'd also ordered the "Standfast" we ended up cutting three inches off the bottom of the cane and putting the 'standfast' on it. Now is about the right height and sturdy enough to hold my 275 lb hubby comfortably. My other comment is that when the seat is in the walking position, it has a bit of a looseness to it that could be difficult for someone who is less than stable. The "Standfast" doesn't help this since it is the seat itself which has some play in it, not the foot. It does lock solidly in place to sit on. I'll be interested to see how long this product holds up.Also ordered the Sitgo portable travel seat. The flipstick is MUCH lighter weight which is nice for the distance walker who just needs to rest every once in awhile.

This is NOT the folding Flipstick!!!! :-(
I own 3-legged cane chairs but they never, ever travel with me anymore. The Flipstick has been my only cane chair for years and I LOVE it :-).But one of it's joys (for me) is that it folds down. I toss the carry bags (I'm on my 3rd stick only because I misplace them occasionally) and just put it right into my daypack and under the seat in front of me. Then I can whip it out all that much quicker when I'm ready to move.ON the page for this one they mention that it, "folds down into a compact shoulder bag" (there is only ONE item for sale on this page, I assumed the description would fit). A rigid stick might be fine for you but I prefer the folding one and didn't even know such a thing as this rigid one existed.

Gives me a break
Gives me a break when walking or standing so that my bad back doesn't turn off my legs. Careful when learning to use it - possible to sit too far back or lean wrong and take a spill.

Requires good balance (or will help you build it) to use ...
My life would be vastly more difficult without this resource. Indispensable. I have bought many for myself and friends over the years. Requires good balance (or will help you build it) to use and not comfortable for sittting for long periods. Still, for people with limited standing tolerance who don't want something as heavy as most other fold-down-to-a-seat canes, this is a godsend. Please manufacturer: don't raise the price just bcs I liked it.

It works
The seat cane works well and is sturdy. But it was a bit too long for me, so I hand to trim it down which was no big deal. Overall I am very satisfied with it.

Walk, stand, or sit with this Flipstick
I love to take my Flipstick with me when I go shopping with my wife. I can sit while she browses.
