Dice Tower and Tray - Ambrosia Maple - Handcrafted in Tennessee

We just received this yesterday. It's obviously crafted by an experienced woodworker, because it's a thing of beauty inside and out. I really love it. I have many board games that use dice, and this tower will completely change the gaming experience for me forever. The dice give a very satisfying clunking sound that is muffled perfectly by the felt (not too loud and not too quiet -- really perfect).Friends and I used it last night while playing Time Stories, and I was particularly glad to have this. The dice in that game are lightweight and prone to not rolling well. This tower does a great job forcing a roll on all dice, because the baffles are designed so well. I was worried dice would get trapped, but it hasn't happened yet.Also, my daughter (almost 4) must have rolled a thousand dice through it already. She played with it for over an hour just feeding the same dice through. Even our baby (1 yr 1 mo) seemed to understand it, but he didn't want to let go of the d20 that I handed to him. Anyway, you will find yourself doing the same thing (rolling for no reason), because it's just that cool.

All of the plastic dice towers and random junk out there can compare to these hand made beauties. I've seen the other stuff fall apart, heard the clear polymer towers rattle so loud you can barely talk over them, but this tower has none of those problems. It's felt padded interior keeps the rolls quiet, the wooden construction is solid, and the finish is flawless and beautiful. This is the absolute best dice tower I've ever seen.

Really no different than my review of the burled walnut version of this tower Souza makes. This one is gorgeous, too. Very high quality and very useful. Will last a lifetime.The spalted ambrosia has some great contrast in the grain as well as knots and more of a rough wood look. If you bought the burled walnut for a wall street banker / gamer, then you'd get this one for your hippy organic subsistence farmer gaming friend. Abstract, yes, but so is beauty.

I like hand crafted things, and I'm a game board nut. So this just made sense to me.

I tried some other dice towers and I wish I had just purchased this one first, it is superbly crafted and looks beautiful!
