The Shorty Rails base plate ejects straight up and offers a multitude of configurations, none of which protrude below the rails. Height, XY adjustment, rake angle and placement of the rails blocks are all variable. The unit sits on 30cm rails to allow for mounting other accessories like a mattebox and follow focus. It also comes standard with a tripod adapter plate with 1/4-20 and 3/8 thread holes to mount to any tripod.

Quality Built Product That Will Last
This is a must have for those using the Cinevate Simplis baseplate system. I have the Cinevate Simplis Dual DSLR Support Rig that is based on this system, and the Universal Accessory Mount was essential for my needs.I have two of these mounts, and will need more in the future. I use one to add a monitor to my rig, and another for an all metal dual shoe mount. On the shoe mount I have a G3 wireless transmitter, and a H4N audio recorder.The accessory mount is rock solid, does not move, and accepts anything with a female 1/4-20 thread. I would not feel as confident or comfortable using the ubiquitous "Variable Friction Adjustable Arm". Although I own friction arms too, and they are very useful. They are not stable enough for anything heavy.These are not cheap at all, especially if you compare them to the inferior friction arms. But compared to Zacuto, Redrock Micro, and others this is very inexpensive. Your'e going to need it... buy it.
