Nice designs but undesirable technique
Let me say that I have always loved Kansas Troubles Quilters fabric lines and I own a lot of those precuts.I don't care for this book much simply because of Lynne's "layered patchwork" technique which has you laying a cut fabric patch on top of the background and top stitching 1/8th inch from the patch's cut edges. (This is very similar to what you would do with fusible web applique but with the fusible you wouldn't get any fraying or fuzzy fabric edge when the quilt was washed.)The book does include some projects that are traditionally sewn and some projects with the layered patchwork technique. Fabric yardage and instruction appear to be complete and thorough. There are no general quilting instructions included. The quilt designs are nice (not spectacular but nice). The only quilt project I'm likely to make is a lumbar pillow sleeve which is a nice concept. If I was offered purchase do-overs, would I buy the book again? Probably not. It's nice to look through and I love the fabric designs and colors used but the quilts just aren't something I would ever make or put on my bucket list.

Love the patterns, not the top stitching Layered Patchwork, very disappointed.
First let me say I love Kansas Troubles patterns and fabrics . So I was very disappointed when I received the book and many of the patterns I liked were done with the "layered patchwork" style. IE- stitched on TOP of the fabric, not stitched together piecing. While this may look ok initially, once the piece is washed or has any use at all those edges will curl up/fray and look terrible. Why go to all the work of cutting the pieces out , if you're only going to sort-of put it together?I noticed in the books images a couple places where it was showing this issue.Pg 42 bottom right triangle is folded back.Pg 33 look at the red triangle edges, several place it's turned or frayed. Pg 30, beautiful quilt, but look at the green triangles on the bottom. They will all do that :( Keep looking, more folded edges. The more you look the more you see what it will look like if you handle it at all.So many of the patterns I purchased the book for, are done this way. Sure I could figure out the measurements to make them the traditional way, but that's what I paid for isn't it? I'm sure I'm not the only one who didn't understand that was the style from the book title.I would like to see these patterns available with the complete Pieced directions to people who purchased the book.

Love Kansas Troubles quilting books.
So many beautiful patterns. Lynn,s techniques are unique and easy. If you like the sort of primitive look, you will love these finished quilts, table toppers, pillows, etc.She is one of my favorites.
