Very cute story
This is one of my 6 year old daughter's absolute favorite books. When we first downloaded it to her kindle, I had to read it to her. But her reading has since improved enough that she can read it on her own. She loves tea parties. She loves mermaids. Putting them together into one story is her idea of the perfect story. She reads it to herself ALL the time. What is even better is she reads it to her little sister, and then they both go off and pretend to be mermaids having a tea party of their own!In addition to the fact that this book entertains my children and keeps them occupied, I like this story because it teaches about good manners at a more formal tea party. While most days, we use the everyday dishes, I do try and use the "fancy" china with the children on a semi-regular basis and teach them about proper etiquette and table manners. This story does a great job at reinforcing that message.

I want to become a Mermaid after reading this story!
A Mermaid Tea Party by author Sally Huss was a well writing and illustrated children book describing how to work together with kindness and manners. This author demonstrated in this book, how important manners, kindness and elegant are to get the job done. The mermaids were excited about the "tea party" because they never been to one. As the story developed the mermaids were listening to the instructions from the teacher and passing alone the tea cups and saucers.I did read a few reviews for this book. The individual with the girl children I can see how they were effected by the exposure of the mermaids appearances. However, the book was well writing and the lesson was taught in a stylist manner.

WELL DONE! Great teaching tool
This was a cute story that would definitely hold a child's interest. What little girl wouldn't enjoy a story about a mermaid and a tea party? But even better (for me as the grandmother) is the fact that the story stressed manners and kindness and appreciation - qualities we want to instill in our children. Add to that the fact that this was done in a fun story (as opposed to sitting the child down and lecturing to her) made this book an excellent addition to a little girl's library. WELL DONE!

Fun book with a great message.
This is a cute book that helps teach children manners and being kind through the eyes of some mermaid friends. The author has captured the fun spirit of the mermaids as they enjoy a tea party while also learning the importance of manners and being kind to one another. These basic things are sometimes forgotten as children grow and struggle to study their regular school lessons. Thanks to Sally Huss for reminding children and parents what is important.

Kindness and manners served up with the tea! Nice party to attend!
Maggie the Mermaid couldn't be cuter. Great pictures that moved swimingly along with the story. And my goodness! She learned about kindness and manners - in school! This book should spark some nice conversations with young children - about sharing, being kind and polite to others, being patient to wait your turn . . . lots of good stuff for little ones to think about and learn.Nice book, Sally.

A Delightful, Brilliant, Educational, FUN book for all of us!
What a DELIGHT this book is for ALL of us! Children and Grown Ups alike! Not only does it explain the lovely cultural rituals of how to pour and give TEA to another, but also how, in doing just that.....you can fill up another's heart and soul and make them feel as special as they truly are! The whimsical illustrations are so colorful and clever and adorable, and the whole book just makes you feel HAPPY ALL OVER!Carol Ann Ashley Birtwell Author of Freddie and Bibelle ~ An Extraordinary Encounter

MORE THAN A TEA PARTY
Love this lesson on kindness, manners, appreciation and gratitude. Little girls love mermaids and tea parties. Huss combines the two to explain to young children the virtues of waiting your turn, expressing gratitude, offering kindness, and practicing good manners. Miss Crandell uses the tea party to demonstrate how to give and receive gifts graciously. The mermaids understand that they are learning life lessons not just playing house. This is the kind of book that will grow with children as they learn the meaning of responsibility. Nice book for parents to share with children or teachers to use as a read aloud for discussion.

With turles for chairs!
What a delightfully written and illustrated story about being appreciate and kind, in all you do. The girls in the mermaid school had a tea party sponsored by tier teacher -- and learned how to be kind, appreciative and polite --- in all they do!

A mermaid's sickly tea party
Seems a nice enough story but it goes overboard with the pleasantries and quickly escalates to sickly sweet. If you want an overly American preachy story then this is for you. If, like me, you just want to keep your toddler amused try the Lily Lemon Blossom series instead!

A cute story, with bright and cheerful illustrations.
This is a sweet book that is bound to appeal to lots of young little girls (especially those who like mermaids). The bright illustrations are whimsical and cheerful throughout, and the large text makes this an ideal early reader.
