San Diego Sail Shades 13'x10' Rectangle - Coffee Brown

I had ordered a more expensive product from another company but luckily the order had some sort of issue and was cancelled on their end. I found this one and thought for sure it must not be high quality for that price. Yet it seems pretty well made to me and it was easy to attach. I used beige colored bungee cords and bought eye loops at the hardware store. I have it attached to our fence on two sides and our house on the other two - it makes a HUGE difference in the usability of our side patio and the kids can play in our 100 degree summers now! I will take it down in the winter months to try to make it last. I'll be curious to see if it truly lasts a few summers (we had several 111 degree days recently so it's being seriously baked!)

Very well constructed sail, relatively thick material, rings are solid, provides good shade and protection from the sun. Also, really looks great. The rectangular sails provide a lot more shade than the triangle ones, I have both; as the dimensions are really from ring to ring and you lose a lot less material in the rectangular sails. I was disappointed to find out that this sail is not water proof. That was my mistake, but certainly, if you are going to use it to cover an area with patio furniture, as we do, I would have liked at least some protection from the rain. This sail provide none.

Editing my review from 2012 to update in 2016 on the product. We have 3 different ones of these and the rectangle ones are still working great for us but the triangle one developed a rip last year in a storm. We always take them down over the winter but this was a summer storm with 60mph gusts.I suggested this product to my boyfriend after he started using pop-ups outside our sliding glass doors and I was tired of banging my head into them when walking outside. He wanted to use the pop-ups for a while until he was able to purchase the expensive awnings that can move out and roll up against the house. After one of the pop-ups blew off the deck (despite screwing it down) and landed on the solar panels and internet satellite receiver (scaring us that one or the other may have been damaged) he finally agreed to let me purchase these. Now he is taking credit for finding such an awesome item that is so affordable!!! (Ha!)The shade itself is more of a brown color than pictured, and the ropes they provide for tying the corners make it difficult to tighten the sail to the appropriate tension. I would suggest WAITING until you have the item before screwing anything into your walls or placing poles for it, because it does stretch a little, and you may want to attach the sail differently. We ended up getting tensioners/tighteners to attach to each corner (they were about an additional 6" each) so that we could get the item very taunt. One side is attached to our home, just above the doors and windows, and the other side we got 2x2" 1/8" thick square steel for posts. The posts are overkill, we easily could have used aluminum or a smaller/thiner post.Over all we love the sail, the house isn't as bright, and seems cooler. Plus it was a total of $125 including post and attachment supplies vs $2000+ for the awning that he wanted.

i'm so sad. i got this and it's a foot longer and larger on each side. i got in-touch with the company and arranged a return and then they sorta bailed. i was like "how about one of these instead" and they were like "yeah dude, no sweat". so i says, "what i do next?" iced. i got froze. nothin.it's a great product. JUST BE AWARE IF YOU MAKE KICK-ASS SUPER ACCURATE DESIGNS, THIS IS GONNA BLOW. 1 FOOT DEFLECTION ON EACH CORNER. NOT DESCRIBED.I'm displeased.

This product is shipped from two different distributors. Other shade cloths we purchase all came from the same distributor and all parts arrived on the same day. We are still waiting for hardware 3 weeks after the arrival of the shade and the shade cloth color is not at all what we expected.

Item was shipped quickly but that's where the positive input ends. It is golden v.s. sand colored, the material is not very sturdy & is of poor quality. I am very disappointed with this item. Our handyman said it will not last long especially with the defects he found in the fabric ;-(

Just as expected. It provides the west side of my house with very needed shade in the afternoons. Living in the Caribbean, shade is very welcome! Installation was a piece of cake. 2 anchors in the house's wall and 2 palm trees. Wind so far hasn't been a problem as the fabric breaths quite well. Just a bit of accumulation when it rains but within 30 minutes the bit of water has drained and even then it's not a huge amount. Now considering buying a triangular one to put next to it. Good value vs price.

For the price you can't find anything better. It's nice because it lets the water flow but keeps the sun out. I'm using it over a boat lift and it works perfectly for my application. Not sure how many years I will get out of it... but for so little money, I can afford to replace it in a couple of years.
