Nice soap!
This soap has a really nice scent and lathers well. It doesn’t smell like cigars or cognac but it’s a pleasant manly smell

Make your shaving experience the best part of your day.
Why do you use shaving soap in the first place? Because you know the difference between the brush and the can. With a good shaving brush, hot water and a quality shaving soap, you will have an experience that far in a way outshines anything you will ever get from a can. There is nothing like a warm lather that lubricates your skin and stimulates your olfactory senses to make shaving enjoyable and not just another part of your morning routine. Another consideration is that you don't want to be limited to the very few fragrances which are available on the shelf of your local pharmacy or grocery store.Enough said. So why Henri et Victoria? And then why Cognac and Cuban Cigars? Believe me, one deep breath and you will know. The fragrance is not heavy and over-scented as so many hand-made soaps are these days. It is a smooth blend of the richness of tobacco (not the burned kind) with a very light addition of the essence of cognac. Another reviewer pointed out that it doesn't have a dominant cognac aroma and they are very correct. Cognac can be overpowering as so many rum based products have proven and you don't want this the first thing in the morning when you are just preparing for the day. But it is there and the smooth addition to the tobacco makes this one incredible shaving experience. The lubrication provided by H et V is remarkable. I was using another hand-made product previously and the very noticeable difference is how easily my razor glides over my face and how protective the lather performed in the delicate areas. It is amazing and reduces the need for TP (if you know what I mean). While you can find other shaving soaps at slightly lower prices, you will definitely not be disappointed in your purchase of Henri et Victoria's Cognac and Cuban Cigars. A very masculine scent as well as a rich and protective lather that will make your morning shave one of the highlights of your day.

smells wonderful if you like the faint smell of Cuban cigars
pretty spendy for a shaving cream BUT WOW, what a fragrance/smell it has..... I opened it and smelled it a half dozen times and finally went in and shaved with it..... it's been a while (a good hour and a half) and it's still hanging in the air and on my face..... AS ADVERTISED- smells great before you start, during the setup and shave and afterwards... if it lasts a significant amount of time I'll return to this review and tell how long it lasted but I don't want to put on my lime after shave for fear of masking this fantastic smell.... I'm afraid I'll have to reorder this shaving cream even though it's spendy.... btw, it doesn't take much to get a good lather on your brush but the moisture doesn't last a super long time, maybe more water on the brush would solve that, I'll try it the next shave...... I decided I like the smell so much I don't want to mask it with my lime after shave so I ordered the even more expensive- ' Post Shave Balm - Cognac and Cuban Chic Cigars'... I'm hoping the shaving balm is half as nice as the shaving cream........ rci

Great overall value shave soap, excellent scent and lather
What an incredible shaving soap. I have a small shaving bowl that I use to lather my soap up in. I opened the jar, and the smell was fantastic. Hints of a sweet cognac and a good dark tobacco, I smoke cigars so I know the scent well. I dipped a finger into the soap and the texture was pleasant, comparable to a thick brown sugar glaze, not hard like bar soap. I put it into my bowl, wet my brush and lathered it up. It created a great smell and the lather was very fluffy like meringue before it hardens. It went on the face silky and very smooth. Shaved incredible and didn't gunk up my razor at all. What was nice was after two whole passes with plenty of lather, there was still unused hard soap at the bottom, proved I don't need much to make alot. Great product for sure, wished I used this stuff before all the other hard shaving soaps before it.

Smells fantastic, loads and lather's with minimal effort
I wasn't sure what to expect of the scent, but once i lifted the lid I thought "this is definitely what something called Cognac and Cuban Cigars should smell like". Definitely a masculine scent, but not in a musky way. The cigar scent, to me, is that of a good cigar before being lit, not a smoky smell. The scent is rich and a little sweet. Lather's and loads easily.

Strong scent and needs time to adjust
I went out on a limb, I really was leaning towards a cedar or vanilla and could have liked those more. This lathers very quickly and gets at least 2 passes. Out of the box the smell is way to strong, and I get maybe a hint of Cognac though it seems more vanilla, but the cigar I'm not getting. That said when the shave is done and has aired for a half hour it smells very nice and masculine. The girlfriend agrees, very/too strong at first, but after a bit it smells very nice. I will definitely keep experimenting with other scents, while a sandalwood I buy regularly. I'm glad to add it to the collection and have no regrets.

Welcome back uber-lather!!
Great scent! It nicely melds both cognac and cigars; not overpowering and it endures well. Generates good lather on its own. It’s not a traditionally hard soap but a very stiff cream. I was actually quite pleased by that because it allows you to combine it with other soaps when shooting for uber-lather: take a small dollop of this soap, smear it on the inside of my shave bowl, add a few drops of glycerin, and then go at the bowl with a shaving brush loaded with another complimentary scent. My source for soaps of the consistency of Cognac & Cuban Cigars closed up shop a few years ago: I’m delighted to find a new one! Merci beaucoup!

Amazing scent and shave
Purchased this as I love the smell of cigars. If you wet shave, this product does dry very fast. What I found is to do sections at a time and it works very effectively. I also receive comments about how good the scent is. I love this shave soap. Just wish it would not dry so fast.

Softer scent than expected & irritates the skin
I wanted to wait before writing a review and now it's been 6 months so here are my impressions :SKIN REACTIONThe soap creates a tingling sensation as soon as applied. First I wasn't sure if it was meant to happen, perhaps the use of some ''refreshing'' ingredients. However, I tried it multiple times and never got used to the light but unpleasant burning sensation. I shaved yesterday night and today the skin is still red. I'm stopping to use this product from now on.SMELLTo my surprise ''cognac and cuban cigars'' have a sweet smell, it kinda makes sense, but I would prefer less vanilla and more character and expected darker vibes. Not bad but could be a bit more "manly", as the scent is closer to a pina colada.FOAMForms easily a thick foam, nothing to complain here.PACKAGINGSimple, good looking, well adapted to the product. However the use of metal or a renewable ressource would be welcome.OVERALLI chose this soap because the formulation seemed relatively natural, it is locally made and the scents are appealing. However, due the harsh reaction it leaves on my skin I can't keep buying it. Perhaps it works better for other skins, but mine doesn't like it at all.

Great product, the scent may not be for everyone
This is the second Henri et Victoria soap that I use. It's a great product, very easy to use. It lathers well and you have some leeway with the amount of water that you use. The thing with Henri et Victoria is that their soaps smell exactly what it says on the container. Pear smelled so good you would want to taste it. Tobacco and cognac smells, well, tobacco leaves (not cigarettes, not smoke or ash, not even cigars, but actual leaves) and cognac. It's not a bad smell, but it might not be for everyone, especially first thing in the morning. The smell is not that persistent though.I got 3 months of daily shave, which is par for the course for me with a container of that size. I would buy more from Henri et Victoria, but perhaps another scent.

Made shaving enjoyable
Can’t say enough good things about this line. The soap itself has a very subtle scent, I could hardly smell it at first (which disappointed me) but when I lathered it up and put it on my face, the smell really came out and I have to say it is super enjoyable! It produced a very rich, soothing lather with fantastic protection and glide! I also enjoy that it’s a Canadian product made with natural ingredients. I will absolutely be ordering this again, it’s my new favourite :) Honestly, I would love to try all of the products from Henri er Victoria! Well done!

amazing masculine scent- like Cognac & Cubans should smell like...
MADE IN QUEBEC, CANADA!Great Product, I use to shave my face and head, nice and soft latheryou just need a shaving brush and with one tub you have enough soap for 8-months to a year depending on how thick you lather it.The tub it comes in (or the lid) makes a great shaving bowl to lather it up in.Used to buy this from a fancy men's store for $40.00 a tub...Amazon and Henri et Victoria website sells for $20? yes please! You can also buy matching cologne and beard oils for each flavour too, but the shaving soap leaves a strong and lasting scent if you shave AFTER a shower ESPECIALLY Cognac & Cubans which has a scent that's ...majestic...I have problems with alcohol based colognes that wear off completely within an hour or two... With H & V their colognes are oil based and LAAAAAST!for me a shave after a shower and 2 drops of the oil I'm good for the day.using this stuff I started to look forward to shaving in the morning!Keep up the good work H & V!

Good soap. Good value.
Very nice and unique scent (but not overpowering). Lathers quite well - shaving brush required and I’d suggest lathering in your hand a bit (although the container is quite wide, it’s tough to build up a good lather within it). It’s a soft shaving soap, which might lead you to believe that you’ll use it up quickly. I have only been using it for a week, but I can tell you that’s not the case. I expect it’ll take a long time to get through the entire container, which makes the price quite reasonable. Good protection/lubrication for your skin, but I have used soaps / creams that were a bit better in that department (otherwise I’d give it 5 stars).Overall a really good soap, and in my opinion it’s a plus that it’s made by a small Canadian firm. Give it a shot and support this company! I’ll be ordering more products from Henri et Victoria in the future.
