I bought the Hovergrip specifically to record videos of myself when I play ukulele by the creek. Previous to this, I would lug a small foldable music stand with me and carefully balance my phone on the muddy/rocky banks to make the videos. This worked OK, but was cumbersome and very precarious due to the lack of being able to find a stable place to put the stand. After looking at a lot of similar products, I decided that clipping this flexible phone holder to a tree branch would be an interesting option.I successfully used the Hovergrip for this purpose for a solid 3-4 months and was thrilled with the product. The flexible part is extremely sturdy, and the clip grips my phone in a way that I have very little worries about it falling/coming loose. It takes a little getting used to in terms of positioning, but after using Brad's (from Hovergrip) very helpful YouTube videos, I was able to learn the best way to get the angle I wanted. This wasn't an exact science while using tree branches, and clearly the clip is not designed for clamping onto randomly sized pieces of wood I encounter. The Hovergrip easily supports my Google Pixel 2XL which is a fairly large phone. I've also used it as a webcam tripod of sorts at home and it has worked fantastically for this purpose.After making a bunch of these, the clip eventually stopped clipping tight (it would initially clamp down but then come loose after the weight of the phone was involved). I was slightly disappointed, but also was willing to admit that my strange use of the product was the likely culprit and I must admit, that I didn't take particularly great care while setting up the Hovergrip: I'd just jam it on the branch quickly and start strumming away. That said, this made the Hovergrip not quite as effective, as the clamp became much less useful, causing me to have to twist/balance the Hovergrip so that my phone wouldn't fall. Though I loved the product, I wasn't extremely keen on just buying another one as I figured the same thing might happen. Before giving up, however, I contacted Brad at Hovergrip and explained my situation. Not only did he replace the broken part months after the purchase, he also gave me extra parts and some extremely good advice that may help my clip last longer this time. Frankly, I was blown away by the time he took to discuss what I had been going through with the product, and it's nice to know that there is a real person behind the company that will stand by the product well after the date of purchase. Because of this, I've continued to use and spread the word about the Hovergrip and plan on using this product as it improves over the years to come.

***UPDATE: It is now 3/28/2020 and I have been using this product since about January 1, 2020. Following are my updated observations:Everything in my initial review stands, this product has been very helpful to me in making videos. The one issue I have is that the table clamp lever cam has already worn out and does not clamp well anymore. (it's not broken, it just doesn't clamp tightly anymore. I see a lot of plastic dust in the cam area.) To make up for performance deficit I now clamp a bar clamp over the Hovergrip table clamp and this gives plenty of grip (not ideal but still worth it.)END OF 3/28 UPDATEBEGINNING OF ORIGINAL REVIEW:This is a really well engineered product and is extremely versatile - congratulations to its designers and developers. The claims on the product page accurately describe how it works. My iPhone 10 clips in and remains secure even if I wave it around (just to test it). The table clamp is very secure.I am not certain on the longevity of the plastic cam levers as they are of light construction - only time will tell.This stand is amazing in how easily the phone can be positioned and angled in 3D space, however due to the long arm length required for this functionality, small disturbances cause the phone to vibrate when in this stand. A small vibration will continue for a long time, so when using for photos care needs to be taken to calm the motion before taking the picture and to not to have any external vibration sources present.This holder is not suitable for use in a moving automobile because of the vibration.In summary this is a great product and well worth getting!END OF ORIGINAL REVIEW

The unit allows a smart phone to be put into an infinite number of positions and will clamp to many objects. It needs a flat surface (one of my monitors has curved back so it won't attach to it, for example, but the other works fine. Why do you need this? When using a smartphone for a video conference it needs to be positioned at eye level and be steady. Otherwise, the remote attendees will see you from weird angles and will see a jerky/blurry image. It has some small plastic parts that probably will get broken over time (by many, at least) but at this price point it is a good value. Note: if you are going route then seriously consider a wireless, Bluetooth earpiece it makes an online meeting a much more effective experience. Also, additional lighting is worth thinking about if your appearance matters.

Excellent device for those of us who don't like to hold their little 'Microwaves' in their hands all day long!!! Plus it can be attached to shopping carts or other objects easily and makes a Great kickstand for viewing the phone screen at either angle!! Lots of peeps have commented on it!HOWEVER, I just placed an order for at least my 5th one (because I haven't found anything comparable!) Why have I purchased 5?? Because they keep breaking!! Ughhhh!! I even painted the last one with many coats of Hard As Nails Clear Coat to give it added strength which seemed to help EXCEPT it broke in a different area where the device allows 360 degree turning. Sooo Bummed!! PLUS I BELIEVE THE PRICE HAS TAKEN A GREAT JUMP HIGHER!!! SMH!!! It Must Have Come From China?? Who Knows??!!

I bought this for my husband so he can watch shows from his iPhone while riding his exercise bike. He attached it to a board secured to his treadmill so that he wouldn’t have any movement caused by the exercise bike moving. He thinks the hover grip is excellent and haven’t been able to find anything as good as this product. The quality is excellent, has a very tight grip on your phone so it will never fall off and the clamp to fasten onto a table or board fits so tightly that it will never slip. The extension cord/neck is flexible but once bent to your height preference stays put without drooping. I highly recommend this product. It is an excellent product at an excellent price. I do not have anything negative to say about it.
