We have had this for a year now and we really like it.
We’ve had this for a year now and we really like it. It’s not the best bottle for every activity, but we bought it for hiking because we hate having to carry bottles when they are empty. We also bought other bottles for hiking and just carrying around like the Vapur Eclipse and Vapur Shades, and the Seattle Sports AquaSto. We have used this one about 7 or 8 times since we bought it in January of 2015.SILICONE – Ya baby! What we like about this one are the things I learned about silicone when researching water bottles. Silicone is naturally anti-microbial. That doesn’t mean you don’t have to clean it good, it just means it is better at keeping stuff from growing.Silicone withstands very high and very low temperatures. We like that we can full-on boil it with no worries whatsoever about chemicals leaching, discoloration, shrinking or expanding etc. We’ve only dish-washed it twice which I think is hot enough to destroy whatever small amount of bacteria that might be present. We only boiled it once (WITHOUT THE LID) “just cuz”. We think we clean it good, but we don’t trust what we can’t see, and you can’t see inside where the plastic top joins the silicone rubber. If stuff is going to grow, that’s where it’s going to grow first. Also, if the bottle is hooked to you, when it bounces around it doesn’t hurt in any way. Some other good bottles will hurt you if you don’t carry it right.NO LEAKING: We were just a tad worried about it leaking because of a few of the reviews. The only way this is going to leak is if it is defective. As long as the top is closed right, you should be able to squeeze the bottle very hard, upside down, and not a single drop should come out.DRINKING: If you fill the bottle to the top, then when you open it, a little bit of water will come out just from the pressure of holding it. I suggest filling to the bottom of the first inset on the white plastic top. In other words, don’t fill it higher than between 1/4" to 1/2" from the very top. The opening of the white top is 1” wide (lid is off) and the opening of the lid is 1/4". Another person mentioned that the silicone is too thin. We disagree. While it might prevent some water leakage when the lid is opened and it’s filled to the very top, it would make the bottle thicker and larger when it rolls up, and it would make it weigh more.We love the little filter-like regulator in the lid. It keeps the water from gushing out when you don’t want it to. That means I have to squeeze the bottle a little to make it come out faster when I drink.NOT INSULATED: While silicone has natural insulating properties, it is not an insulated bottle. Use lots of ice cubes. If you are going on a long hike in warm weather, you better have more than 20oz (which is why we love collapsible bottles) and you should either freeze one or more of them or put as many ice cubes as you can fit in them.Sometimes we use camelbacks, but we usually carry packs. You can put the camelback in the pack, but sometimes it just seems like too much hassle.Over all, we are very happy with this squeeze water bottle and we are definitely glad we bought it. It fills a very important niche in our hiking, walking and just out-and-about travels.SILICONE INFO:When I read about silicone, it was always mentioned how great it is at very high and low temperatures, but when they sometimes mentioned the actual temperatures, it often differed and so I had to look this up. Generally, the max “operating” temperatures for silicone rubber are a MINIMUM of -150°F to +480°F. Btw, the boiling point of water is 212°F. "Operating" seems to mean there is no change in how it performs depending on the application and the type of silicone rubber. Since there are so many different types, it varies.More generally: -Can be used continuously at 302° F with virtually no change in its properties. -Certain silicone compounds can withstand use even at 392° F for 10,000 hours or more. -Some silicone rubber products can withstand heat upwards of 662° F for short periods. -Embrittlement point is between -76° to -94° FNote: While silicone is an “inert” substance and has been determined safe for cooking and baking by the FDA, which means nothing, there is a lack of science verifying either that silicone rubber is completely safe with food at the higher cooking temperatures or in long-term contact with foods, or that it is unsafe. As for silicone drinking bottles, there is almost zero evidence of any harm whether the liquids are cold or hot.Does anybody know what the definition of FOOD GRADE SILICONE is? Near as I can tell from the FDA code is that it is just regular silicone rubber that is manufactured with only those additives that are recognized as safe and in a manner in which prevents potential contamination. But that's just a guess.

Leaky Broken and Gone...Grrrr.
Ordered two of these water bottles and both were defective. One arrived without the little silicone loop that holds the bottle in the collapsed position. Unfortunately, the way the plastic is molded would have made it impossible to replace this. While the carabiner was hooked to my pack the plastic loop attaching it must have broken off because the carabiner made it back home but sadly my bottle did not. The second bottle leaks like crazy and I will return it in hopes of recouping at least half of my investment. Not happy.

Strong odor taints taste of water
I really wanted to like this product. I do not like using single use plastic water bottles. With this one, after it was empty, I could fold it up and tuck it out of the way in a pocket or backpack. Unfortunately, the material it is made of taints the water and makes it taste bad. Tried it multiple times but still tastes bad. Decided to finally give up on it and return it but when I tried, the return time had expired. Didn't know about the return policy.

I like it's size and it fits perfectly in my purse
I like it's size and it fits perfectly in my purse. However - dust and other stuff sticks to the silicone material and gives a weird feeling holding it

Like the collapsible feature but it takes a long time to dry out.
