Description
- Many people will mix quinces with apples to make awesome jelly. The fruits are firm and keep well. There are many old time recipes for quince, but quince aren’t well known today.
- The University of Purdue recently noted that there is a high potential for alternate crop fruit production form this species. These are one of those rare plants that are very easy to grow, make a nice ornamental and produce edible fruit.
- These seem to be technically self-pollinating, but very poorly. I recommend at least 2 plants for fruit, or will pollinate with an existing shrub-quince or flowering quince. Will not pollinate with a tree quince(cydonia species).
- This plant is also used in bonsai. Very unusual. Plants are 12-18 inches tall. Hardy zone 5-8
- Ships to: United States
You are bidding on 1 seedling. Up for bid here is a the Japanese fruiting and flowering quince. The quince has been well known as a flowering shrub, but when 2 or more are planted you get a nice bonus of quince fruits.
