Recommended, but always with a grain of salt!
I take everything with a grain of salt. Chapter 8 nicely lays out "8 steps" you can do for natural tooth care every day. I like "Chapter Nine: Beneficial Botanicals"; it outlines what herbs may be the best for various oral issues. "Chapter 10: More Tooth Tips" is equally helpful and continues to point out helpful herbs. The most helpful advice I've taken from the book (so far) is to use plain baking soda for brushing teeth, gums, tongue, (and I decided to brush my cheeks too), because it neutralizes acidity in your mouth, creating an environment that is not conducive to the bacteria/plague that rot your teeth and can ruin your health. My teeth feel way, way, way cleaner, my breath is fresher, and my whole mouth stays cleaner throughout the night and well into the day - when I use baking soda as opposed to normal toothpaste on my teeth, tongue, gums, and cheeks. I truly appreciate info on toothpaste ingredients in Chapter 3; I will never use toothpaste again - because certain ingredients prevent re-mineralization. The beginning chapters have some good information on teeth in good health and poor health, children, selecting a dentist, etc. but I am more focused on what I can do to minimize cavities and gum disease.I have a few complains which, sadly knock my rating down to 4 stars: The author advocates gargling with salt water, but doesn't tell you not to use sea salt, until Chapter 10, and I need to brush up on my chemistry to fully understand her explanation. On page 86 "Iodine Mouth Gargle" is suggested, but the author does not include a warning about the ill health effects of consuming too much iodine - which a few people WILL do! Page 87 states "the Keyes technique" "swishing undiluted apple cider vinegar around in the mouth" - WTH?! Do not try that - it will burn your mucus membranes - I cannot even believe this is in the book! :(Overall though, I am quite pleased with my purchase and I have found Artemis's book to be helpful and insightful.I recommend it to others, but if I gift it to anyone who may be naive about science - I will have to write in caution notes next to "Iodine Mouth Gargle" and "Keyes technique"!

Convincing
The author tells us we are wasting our money buying commercial toothpaste. We are better off using salt water to gargle and baking soda to brush and whiten, and to keep on flossing. It costs less and is more effective in removing plaque and cleaning our mouth. I tried it and agree. We the, the public, have been totally brainwashed by the toothpaste manufacturers.Note, the flavor of salt and baking soda is not sweet and minty like toothpaste, but why should everything taste like candy? Also there is some controversy that daily brushing with baking soda can wear away the enamel of the teeth - I don't have an answer for that. There is information on the internet supporting both sides of that issue. I use it sparingly and lightly. The author also recommends using essential oils for cleansing and healing in the mouth. I have tried her some of her recommendations and am very satisfied. I have crowns and fillings to take care, and the gum tissue in my mouth is looking so much better.

A MUST READ! Nadine's Dental Care has changed the health of my teeth and gums in 4 months!
WOW this book and all of Nadine's amazing products from Living Libations!!! I first found Nadine by a podcast from my favorite Bulletproof guy Dave Asprey and have been trying and loving all Nadine's products for about 6 months now. The podcast was on dental care. I suffer with bleeding gums and have lost some teeth because of my gums. It seemed that no matter how faithful i am at home care my gums still bleed and i lose hope. I have been using Nadine's products and read this book for about 4 month and my teeth and gums are beginning to heal! Her holistic essential oils and tooth polish are healing and refreshing and addictive! This book has helped me to see dental care and home health care in a new way that makes sense and my teeth agree! Try Nadine's Dental Care and you will never go back to traditional dental care!

not helpful
I bought this book a couple of years ago based on a friends recommendation. Here is the deal, if you have perfect teeth (no fillings, toothache, root canals etc) this book is "great". That being said I am a healthy human in my 30's but sadly I use to eat gummy candy and drink soda, so I have fillings from my teens. I have had root canals due to trauma. I recently had my last mercury fillings removed and replaced with composite, since then I have been having issues with those 2 teeth. This book gives no guidance for what to do! Except that I should have my teeth pulled instead of a root canal. It is very disheartening when you want to be healthy but not have a bunch of holes in your mouth. I would not recommend this book to anyone, unless you want to pay $12.00 to know how to properly clean your teeth, which you could find resources anywhere for.

More than your mouth.
So much great information in here. Much that I have never thought of before, such as tiny ligaments that attach our gums to our teeth. I have employed some of the practices and have learned to love flossing. I also keep a bottle of salt water on the sink and use that often after meals to rinse, as well as before brushing. Highly recommend. Very impressed with author and I encourage you to look her up on youtube. She has some great presentations. Very knowledgeable!

Leaves out too many details
This book leaves too many unanswered questions. a lot of information that is shared is vague. It more directs you to look for information elsewhere. Also I am not convinced on what the author's credentials are. There is a section of using essential oils and I enthusiastically orders a number of these only to then do some additional research and find that most oils mentioned are very strong and most sites warn strongly against using them internally. Some oils can cause quite serious burns/reactions.

Very useful info, but most crammed in to the final two chapters.
The book provides a lot of good information about maintaining our teeth in a natural way and providing us with techniques to keep the dentist away. Most of the good info, however, is in the last two chapters; the first part of the book has mostly filler. Thanks to this book, I discovered the ionic toothbrush and the use of essential oils for better and easier oral higiene.
