Gaggia Classic Portafilter Filterholder with double 14g. pressurized basket (21000491) & Spout

When the plastic handle on our almost 20-year-old Gaggia classic cracked, I was worried we’d have to get a new espresso machine. But no fear, this portafilter from Amazon saved the day! It fits like our old one, and feels identical. It came with a new-fangled filter that only has one teeny hole at the bottom. This filter caused liquid to shoot out the side of the portafilter. Even after replacing the gasket, it still leaked. So we went back to using our old metal filter, the handle worked fine after that. So maybe we can’t use the latest in espresso tech, but the machine works and the coffee tastes great!

I should have returned this because the part where the liquid comes out is not straight and it's been so wildly annoying it's incredible. So no I can't recommend it. It fits my gaggia classic though. The cups have to go at a weird angle and not all cups fit when it's crooked.

OEM had plastic downspouts and broke after extended use. This product was purchased because of this and has a metal downspout that is very robust. Additionally, the OEM screen filter was good but this one is outstanding and produces exceptional crème.

The portafilter and double spout do not come assembled and aligned. When I put them together and tightened the double spout all the way down, it ended up cockeyed to the point of being useless. The threads on the portafilter are messed up. If I only tighten it down far enough for the spouts to be in the right direction, it's not tight enough to prevent coffee from shooting out the sides at the connection. I tried glueing it in place, and to seal the threads, as a last ditch effort to make it useful. So far it's working, but I didn't pay $60 for a replacement portafilter that had to be glued together to work properly. My old protafilter fell apart, so I need this one and can't send it back. But I do regret buying this new one. I do not recommend. Also, it cannot be used without the portafilter pin. Coffee sprays everywhere without it.

Waited weeks for this to arrive, only to find that the two way pin is not in the package. The portafilter is impossible to use without the pin as the coffee sprays out like a sprinkler. Not happy at all.
