Great Reel Mower (mostly, until one quit cutting) (UPDATED 2019.06.03)
I purchased two of these mowers to replace our riding lawnmower, one for myself to push and one for my son to push. With two of us on the job, we can tackle our large(ish) rural yard in about the same or slightly less time than the rider. Here are my pros/cons:PROS- No need for fuel- Yard looks great when finished.- No need to replace batteries (like I have to yearly do with my rider after the harsh northern Minnesota winters)- Plenty of mulch production (that we use to feed our rabbits and for landscaping)- Great workout. I generally try to pace myself at a jog to sneak in a good workout. I love multitasking!- Quiet- No exhaust, so you can breath in the smells of nature and freshly cut grass while you mow.- 4 year warranty.CONS- Bought two. One died after two months of use (thus reflected in the overall rating). Mower blades quit spinning during forward motion and clicks like it does when pulled in reverse. Both ran under the same conditions and about the same operating time. 2019.06.03 UPDATE: Opened up the faulty mower and discovered the gears on both sides were worn out. They are made out of plastic. Contacted support. Waited on the phone for a hour, now they are sending replacement gears. I should not have had to wait on the phone for an hour, and these gears, which are crucial to the operation of this mower should not be made out of plastic. 2019.06.10 UPDATE: Received replacement mower rather than just replacement gears!! Updated rating from 2 starts to 5 stars to reflect the level of customer service received. I do have some concerns about the plastic gears again wearing out, but have since found a cheap mechanical solution (involving the addition of one screw and bolt per gear) that will work to resolve the issue once these mowers are out of warranty.- Small sticks will bring you to a sudden halt. Probably what damaged the plastic gears mentioned above!- We had an amazing acorn crop this year. These mowers proved impossible to mow any grass anywhere there was a heavy acorn drop. The acorns prevented the wheels from turning, thus the blades would not spin.- Some random weeds sneak past the mower. Most grasses have not been a problem.- Does not cut reliably on steep terrain, like the ditch along our driveway.- If you let your lawn get too long (6-7 inches), you will be mowing it twice to get it evenly cut.- Foam on the handle is wearing out after a year of use.Overall, I have been pleased with this mower. It meets my desire to make mowing a multi function endeavor: Mowing the lawn + exercise + collection of fresh mulch for our rabbits and landscaping.2023.05.18 - I am still using these reel mowers (I bought two of them) and they are all still functioning well after years of use (including by my children). The foam handles are starting to fall off, but they still function well and are used regularly to this day!

they work GREENWORKS
This is a bit different from modern tech products. But understand clearly that everything has its place.Yes, its manual and the need to get off your butt and do physical is important.but this Mower has a very important purpose, it's a Real Reel Mower. doesn't spin in circles, use gas or go on its own. But the job this mower does is so very important to growing grass.it spins overhead. it doesn't tear (it Mowes). the assembly is simple and blade adjustment is very easy My mower right out of the box was perfect. the bag does its job and surprise it works as stated perfectly. the price is clearly a plus. and yes you have to get off your butt 3 times a week during season. great piece of equipment. B UT TO MY DISAPPOINTMENT I HAD TO RETURN MINE. AND ACTUALLY UPSET ME. IM AN OLDER GUY NOW and the performance was Great. but im an older guy now and the brain says yes but the body just says to late old man. Yes I Accomplished My Goal and was very proud of how clean and neat it looked. Perfect tool for the perfect job. but the ol ticker said no But heres an idea for some of you younger who want that perfect look on their lawn. Yes use it it works. but to avoiod that extra tired. use your power mower But set it just a little higher. and instead of going back and forth with the power on the return use the Reel Mower for the guys there was a time when the Crew Cut was in and the barber would take his clippers electric. and mow that cut looked good. But the Real prow would use the electric to get the bulk off and then came out those special sizzors yep you could hear the click click click. and the cut was perfect the other Guys would ask wow where did you get that cut or just smile and say louie. yep the difference was spot on same with finishing with a REEL MOWER LIKE THE GREENWORKS. YES AGE IS WONDERFUL BUT DARN THAT OL BRAIN AND BODY THING IS A KICKER

Works like it should when used properly.
Bought this as a low maintenance mower at the new house. I wanted it because it starts every time and doesn't smoke at all, plus it's quieter than a gas mower. The handle was easy to assemble.Unfortunately, when I took possession of my new home, the previous owner didn't tend the lawn for what looks like 3 weeks. Reel mowers can't cut through thick ruffage without multiple passes. Also, the tall flowering weeds simply folded down in front of the blades.Once down to a reasonable length, the lawn is easy to mow. I have to cut more frequently to keep the lawn short but it's very quick to push around. The grass catcher doesn't work very well but I knew that from all the other reviews. It's a quality reel mower worth the price. Would be 5 stars if the grass catcher caught all the grass.
