Even Better than I Expected!
My husband and I just bought a house with an average lawn in Maine - not sure what type of grass, but some of clover, dandelions, and mint mixed in. It's a 1/4 acre lot with a house that's less than 2000 sq. ft., so, while not huge, definitely not considered a tiny yard. We didn't want to deal with gas, oil, the smell, noise, charging, or storage of a gas or electric so we bought this one after reading a lot of mixed reviews for a lot of different reel mowers. This ended up being one of the cheapest out there, so I was nervous it wouldn't be great. I am so glad we bought this! My husband and I have used this one time each so far and we both were pleasantly surprised with how well it worked. Here is our experience with the mower:First, it was easy to assemble. I put it together in less than 1/2 an hour. Each time we used it, the lawn was LONG from being on vacation for 1-2 weeks prior to mowing. The mower did a great job, though SOME of the grass that was long enough to be tipped over snuck under the blades. We just went back over these places in different directions to try to get it best we can. I definitely think this can be avoided by mowing before it gets this long.Even though we have several large trees in the yard, and we had just had a thunderstorm the day before I mowed, I really had no problem with sticks getting stuck (and I did not rake or pick up sticks ahead of time). Only one stick got stuck and one piece of mulch got stuck. It zoomed over 1+ foot long sticks bigger round than my fingers, no problem. It took my husband and I each just over an hour to mow the whole yard. Again, this is after going over several patches more than once and I think if we mowed more often than every 2 weeks it would take less time and we would not need to redo patches. Some grass is just going to cut better in certain directions. For example, just after one time, I learned the patch of grass along our driveway needs to be cut north-south, not east-west.You will have to do some trimming. It leaves a few inches of uncut grass next to buildings and other objects. It's not silent. It makes a scratching/slicing sound but it is not unpleasant and certainly nothing like power mowers. You could easily listen to music/radio with earbuds using this.I did not even bother to use the grass catcher but my husband did. He said it filled so fast he just took it off rather than dump it every pass down the lawn. Again, probably more of an issue with longer grass. It's a good workout without being so much that you never want to do it again! It was actually easier to push than I was expecting. This is one of the reasons we got a reel mower (for the free workout), but if you don't like to sweat or workout, get yourself a rider! So, that's our experience. I definitely recommend this mower after two uses. If anything changes, I will update my review but at this point, unless our lawn gets larger, I would never go back to a power mower!

Great Reel Mower (mostly, until one quit cutting) (UPDATED 2019.06.03)
I purchased two of these mowers to replace our riding lawnmower, one for myself to push and one for my son to push. With two of us on the job, we can tackle our large(ish) rural yard in about the same or slightly less time than the rider. Here are my pros/cons:PROS- No need for fuel- Yard looks great when finished.- No need to replace batteries (like I have to yearly do with my rider after the harsh northern Minnesota winters)- Plenty of mulch production (that we use to feed our rabbits and for landscaping)- Great workout. I generally try to pace myself at a jog to sneak in a good workout. I love multitasking!- Quiet- No exhaust, so you can breath in the smells of nature and freshly cut grass while you mow.- 4 year warranty.CONS- Bought two. One died after two months of use (thus reflected in the overall rating). Mower blades quit spinning during forward motion and clicks like it does when pulled in reverse. Both ran under the same conditions and about the same operating time. 2019.06.03 UPDATE: Opened up the faulty mower and discovered the gears on both sides were worn out. They are made out of plastic. Contacted support. Waited on the phone for a hour, now they are sending replacement gears. I should not have had to wait on the phone for an hour, and these gears, which are crucial to the operation of this mower should not be made out of plastic. 2019.06.10 UPDATE: Received replacement mower rather than just replacement gears!! Updated rating from 2 starts to 5 stars to reflect the level of customer service received. I do have some concerns about the plastic gears again wearing out, but have since found a cheap mechanical solution (involving the addition of one screw and bolt per gear) that will work to resolve the issue once these mowers are out of warranty.- Small sticks will bring you to a sudden halt. Probably what damaged the plastic gears mentioned above!- We had an amazing acorn crop this year. These mowers proved impossible to mow any grass anywhere there was a heavy acorn drop. The acorns prevented the wheels from turning, thus the blades would not spin.- Some random weeds sneak past the mower. Most grasses have not been a problem.- Does not cut reliably on steep terrain, like the ditch along our driveway.- If you let your lawn get too long (6-7 inches), you will be mowing it twice to get it evenly cut.- Foam on the handle is wearing out after a year of use.Overall, I have been pleased with this mower. It meets my desire to make mowing a multi function endeavor: Mowing the lawn + exercise + collection of fresh mulch for our rabbits and landscaping.2023.05.18 - I am still using these reel mowers (I bought two of them) and they are all still functioning well after years of use (including by my children). The foam handles are starting to fall off, but they still function well and are used regularly to this day!

Disappointed
Ordered this mower to replace a rechargeable mower that is not holding the charge for very long and was heavy to push. Our first mower was a reel type and thought we would give this a try. Was very disappointed with it. No matter how it was adjusted it was very difficult to push and seemed to tear the grass blades rather then cut them. As a result, we returned the product.
