Universal, 1L | 34oz, Borosilicate Spare Glass Carafe Beaker for All Brands French Press Coffee and Espresso Maker, 8-cup

This is the second of these replacement carafe's I've gotten, so I figure it's time for a review. The first one met it's unfortunate end through no fault of the manufacturer, but rather while trying to shake coffee grounds out into a compost container. Anyway, it fits perfectly into our bodum french press and works just as well as the original carafe did. I actually prefer the somewhat pointier spout on this one to the original as it gives me a little more control over drips. I use it just about every day, and between this one and the last one it's been almost a year of using the product. It's shown no signs of slowing down other than when I actually broke it.

UPDATE: 6 months later this is still working well. Changed rating to 5 stars & I would buy again if I am clumsy & break it. I started pouring boiling water directly into it, and have had no problems. I use this 1-2 times a day, and leave the Bodum on the countertop, and rinse it by hand. Works just as well as the more expensive Bodum carafe, the only difference being the thicker walls and slight freenish cast, hence difference glass formula. ORIGINAL REVIEW: The 1 L, 34 oz. Cozyna Universal does fit the Chambord model of Bodum well. The glass is thicker than the original Bodum glass. I am a little concerned because the Cozyna glass is greenish in color. When Pyrex company was sold to a manufacturer who changed the glass formula to a greenish glass, Pyrex users started having trouble because the greenish glass cannot withstand thermal stress, so the greenish Pyrex can explode. This happened to me with Pyrex. So when I see that this is greenish, I think that though they got the size right, they changed the glass formula, so that this may crack or explode when pouring in boiling water. As a result, I have been gently heating my glass with warm water, while the water boils, to prevent this. One episode of exploding glass is enough in my lifetime.

While cleaning our Bodum 8 cup french press carafe, it was dropped and shattered on the kitchen floor. I then jumped on the computer and headed for Amazon to find a replacement. I was pleasantly surprized to find a lower cost replacement with the Cozyna Universal glass carafe.My concern was that it might not fit correctly but I took the leap and ordered the Cozyna. When it arrived I found it to be well packaged andthe shipping was fast! I took it out of the box, cleaned it (being careful not to drop this one), and slipped it into the Bodum frame.It fit perfectly. It also appears to be a bit more solid glass than the Bodum. I have used it a couple of times and love it. Because of the cost and quality, I ordered a spare just in case of another kitchen catastrophe. I would highly recommend the Cozyna Universal carafe to anyone whoneeds a replacement. Thank you Cozyna.

I managed to break the original Bodum carafe/beaker trying to separate it from the plastic frame for cleaning. It was a gift from my daughter, a Starbucks employee, so I not only use it but cherish it. A replacement from Starbucks/Bodum was about the original retail value... don't cherish it that much! Glad to find a more practical price point to try again. This Cozyna Universal fits much more snugly, perhaps it is a bit more robust? Not sure it is going to come apart any easier BUT my dear wife says I can just clean it assembled (yes, dear!). We shall see.

This carafe beaker is a perfect fit for my Bodum coffee maker as well as my budget. I read some negative reviews that complained about issues with its being too large for a Bodum as well as being too thin glass compared to original inserts, so I carefully compared it to my old one, which I had not yet disposed of, and which has lasted over 8 years (til I carelessly whacked it on a granite counter). This Cozyna is identical to the original one as far as I can tell. As for comments that it doesn't fit without being forced into the beaker metal cradle, I wonder whether those reviewers tried to insert it without first loosening the screw located in the top of the cradle handle. The instructions on the box say very plainly not to attempt to insert or remove the glass beaker without first loosening that screw. This releases the tension on the cradle. Things work better when folks pay attention to instructions.I am 100% satisfied with this beaker and very happy with the price which is much lower than some others on Amazon.

I broke my glass on my original carafe. I tapped it on the side of the trash can and smashy smashy! Broke my heart. I found this replacement to be the right price, the right size, the right fit. I had to buy two because I am clumsy. I don't think I will ever need the spare. This glass is very well made in that, I don't believe it will break if I tap it against a plastic trash can like my other one. Great deal. Great seller. I will buy here again, IF I HAVE TO-not likely, sorry. Its that good of a product.

I bought two of these to replace two that I had already broken, so I guess I have a bad track record. The carafes look nice and fit into my french press holder well, which was a relief. However, the glass is very thin and delicate. The second time I used it, I was tapping the plastic lid/cup of my grinder on the rim to get out all of the grounds, and it broke at the rim. Had that not happened, I would have given it 5 stars because it was inexpensive, arrived quickly and worked well. After I break the remaining one (it's just a matter of time), I will probably buy two more and will keep doing so until they start making them out of titanium.

Fits perfectly in typical sized Bodum press pots. I ended up purchasing a stainless steel model months ago so my glass doesn't get a lot of use anymore. When I did use this, it worked as well as any spare glass I have purchased.Just a general thought from a person who has used a press pot for almost a decade:- There is nothing special about Bodum and glass vs metal.- If you make coffee every day like I do, go with stainless steel. It is more durable and easier to deal with.
