Irrational, But Effacious! Disc: Cardas/Ayre Burn-In and System Enhancement CD Will Help Improve the Performance of Your Entire System This Cardas/Ayre Burn-In and System Enhancement CD , titled Irrational, But Efficacious! , was awarded an Absolute Sound Golden Ear Award for its extraordinary effects on audio systems. Developed by Cardas Audio in conjunction with Ayre Electronics, the IBE disc helps with system burn-in, and also has the ability to remove built-up magnetism from your components and even your cables. Play the disc once and you will understand why we have sold thousands of these . You will hear an added sense of clarity and ease. The main tool on this seven-track arsenal is the final track, a five-minute glide tone that when played through your system at a moderate listening volume will improve your system's sound. The theory is that this sweep will demagnetize residual fields that build up in your components over time , similar to the sweep function on the Cardas Sweep LP . We recommend playing the last track (or even the whole disc) on a periodic basis, at least once a week for best effect. The full glide tone track is conveniently placed at the end of the disc, so that it can be easily played even if the system is unattended. Other tracks have more specialized functions. Track 1 : A 45-second version of the glide track, for a quick performance boost. Track 2 : White Noise, random full spectrum noise, used to speed burn-in a component and determine proper phase. Track 3 : Pink Noise, random noise with equal emphasis on each band of the audio spectrum, great for checking midrange phase and burning in drivers. Track 4 : Brown Noise, random noise with an emphasis on the midrange and lower octaves, for burning in midrange and bass drivers or checking bass integration or rattles in your room Track 5 : Mon

There’s bs voodoo and then there are things that defy logic.
This defies logic. Makes no sense to me how sweep tones with brown noise, white noise etc. would clean up and clear out digital output and increase your digital listening pleasure? But I do not hold any advanced degrees in sonics. I do have a pair of age degraded ear holes. And this seems to aid the degradation of age. Psychological? Maybe?

Get Yours Because This Disc Works!
I had read reviews about Ayre equipment for years, but could not afford most of it. I've known of this disc but never bought it until now. Why not try it for very little money? To my surprise, this disc works! After running it and its contents through my Sony Blu-ray player, my speakers seemed to come to life. My system consists of Hsu Research HB-1 MK2 bookshelf speakers, two Hsu Research VTF-2 MK5 Subwoofers, a Marantz NR1510 receiver and a Schitt Audio Vidar 2 100-watt amplifier. The first thing I noticed right off the bat was how much more bass was infused into the audio playback. No adjustments to the subwoofers were done. Bass comes through more clearly with a tighter punch. This is not to say that my system, especially for the price, sounded poor in the first place. However, this Ayre disc really did seem to "clear the junk" out of the lines, so to speak.Treble and midrange sound a little bit more clean than before and focused in the stereo soundstage. My music mostly consists of old time rock and roll with a mixture of 16-bit CD files and high resolution AIFF files at 192/24.I ran the 1985 Heart "Heart" album through my new and improved sound system. The CD I had years ago always sounded too bright. This AIFF file truly rocks! The recording is a bit on the treble side, but it's clean audio with lots of tight bass. The Ayre disc helped my audio system breathe new life.

Burn in
I got this to "burn in" a new PoNo player I just bought. I don't know if it worked but I trust the science behind it.

This thing is insane
OMG. I have been working on trying to clear up some "fuzz/congestion" in the "corners" of my soundstage for quite some time. I have made pretty good progress by changing/matching cables/impedances, etc; but I thought I was going to have to live with what was remaining of the "fuzz". It had haunted me because as I put more and more money into my system, it would provide certain improvements, but it would also work against me to only highlight the shortcomings of my source material and/or my playback system. I stumbled across this product and figured I would give it a shot for the very nominal cost as compared to some of the other things I was contemplating. OMG. Immediately, everything was cleaner/clearer/more open....then I began to notice layers and layers of music where it was formerly layers and layers of muck. And the bass is even deeper and tighter. It's insane, but I will go on the record as saying that you are crazy if you do NOT try this. The best bang-for-the-buck you will ever spend on your sound system.

Hugh does this really work? Yep
OK this is a crazy product. I found out about it from Jim Smith at "Get better sound" (highly recommend his book BTW). Don't understand how it actually works but it works. It improved my entire system. I have a Oppo BDP-105SE and an Emotiva ERC-3-TUC CD player. I ran the disk on both players checking for differences in sound. The first run improved the whole system and I played the 105 and it sounded better than usual. Then I ran the disc on the 105 and it sounded noticeably better. I loaned it to golfing buddy to try on his system and he was really surprised how much better his system sounded. I would describe the effect as waking your system up. Strange but amazing. Be a bit careful on volume settings as track 1 and 7 are quite intense.

Remarkable System Treatment
I have 3 treatment discs for my stereo system that I am proud of and have spent many years assembling. This 19 minute disc is the best and fastest. It improves the sound of my system significantly with a twice a month play. You won't need "audiophile" ears to hear the improvement.

Idk if it worked... anything for better sound, right?
I tried it once. Didn't notice much a difference. I'll try it again at some point. I watched a youtube video and Charles Hansen from Ayres Acoustics recommended it.
