A Really Difficult Assembly
This chair... was incredibly difficult to assemble. One does not simply read the (poor) instructions and, volia, a chair!First off, the packaging wasn't too bad. I've read all the EOE chair reviews and thought, "Damn, this is gonna be bad". To my surprise only one major blemish was on the actual (I'm a wood worker, this is real veneer) wooden veneer. And honestly, they need to do better on their manufacturing floor because the package was well shipped. Metal pieces were bubble wrapped, then foam wrapped, then separated by foam in the box from the wood veneer components. The package arrived with foam on top and bottom where the veneer was exposed. So it has to be a floor and manufacturing issue. The leather seems to be real when comparing it to a PU leather chair and it's perfectly white. Cool to the touch and thick too. Foam is hard but I bet it will soften up. There's an indentation on the armrest where I believe the metal legs were compressed on it. Each arm rest came in its own sealed bag.It looks like someone looked inside, inspected it and improved the shippability (new word) and resealed it and that was nice. I also received a slight discount on the chair, perhaps due to the blemish or a special promotion. Whatever, this chair is nice, looks nice, feels high quality for $600. Remember, the original costs $4500. I think it's a quality STEAL.BUTTTTTTT... He/she who trespasses these here waters must be aware of assembly, lest ye spend yer dearly minutes in Davy Jones Locker.I have an advanced engineering degree from an accredited college with a Master's Thesis and a published journal paper, and damn I had a hard time assembling this.Honestly, the instructions are enough to get by. Some more verbiage would be nice, with a step by step process. But I was able to figure out my own mistakes from looking at the instructions. What I couldn't foresee were the freaking armrests. They are a pain to install. Took me three hours to install some armrests! They're just blind holes, and you assemble them after the rest of the chair is built. But the foam padding and the screw angles makes it incredibly difficult for normal assembly. It's basically guess and check, and since that wooden veneer is so close to the holes you have to have a gentle, yet firm grace when committing to tightening the screws. Additionally, you have to be an engineer to get these damn angles correct! The holes aren't perfectly straight, so the screws come in at an angle.(You could take a saw to the mounting plate and create a few slip holes, pre screw the screws, and slide the armrests on. You can't return it if you do that, but maybe that's something for the manufacturer)So, it's a great product made with real materials. That's why the four stars. You must seriously consider your engineering skills before attempting this assembly, however. Otherwise, only a single blemish and luxurious mid century style for 600!

Hard to put together, came with damage. Looks great otherwise
The packaging seemed durable, but when I started putting it together I noticed 2 noticeable corner gouges in the wood right at the edge. Also the chair was really difficult to put together, the holes wouldn’t line up and the arm rests themselves were labeled backwards, so if I installed it as they said the leather zipper would be facing forward... really odd. The female threaded inserts were angled any which way, so lining up a bolt was incredibly difficult. Once put together it looks great but still a bit dissapointed at the damaged wood. For the price I would expect better quality. If the company can send a new one great but I’m not holding my breath. Also this is the original size Eames. If you are a bigger person like me (6’2” 265 lbs), this chair is too small. They make an Eames XL for larger humans that obviously cost more but will be worth it. This chair stops just below my shoulder line and provides no lower back support. It fits my wife (5’2”) perfectly.

Nice Chair, Assembly is Brutal
There really are no instructions, only an exploded diagram of the chair (only the chair, not the ottoman but that's relatively easy). The arm rests are ridiculously hard to screw on. The angle the bolts have to go in at makes it very challenging. You will be fuming and swearing like the dad from Christmas Story when he was struggling with the boiler, but once those are on, joy! The chair is nice, you just have to get past the assembly.Minus one star for assembly. Minus one star because 3 bolts were missing. Should this happen to you, the short stubby ones are M8-1.25 x 16mm. The longer ones are M6-1.0 x 25mm.

Worst assembly experience ever. Brackets will need to be refabricated
you guys either need to find a different manufacturer or stop selling this garbage. I have been assembling this chair for 4 hours! Your left and right arm rest brackets don’t match at all. I 3d scanned it just to verify it and their radius bend is off by .67” which means that your seat won’t connect to your back or your arm rests line up without having to rebend the 1/4” steel brackets and redrilling the bolt holes. If you are drop shipping this chair I would recommend you buy and assemble the merchandise you plan on reselling to consumers. I can’t explain how frustrating this was.

Installation directions are horrible
One page installation directions are horrible. Copy of a copy and very difficult to follow. Took my son and me two days to figure it out. Both of us are engineers by trade.... Leather is good and the wood is fair, some scrapes and rough areas that we did not do. Nice looking chair after it is complete.

Poor fit and finish
2 stars because it looks nice. Very poor fit. The pre-Installed hardware was out of position. This caused bolts to not line up. At the end I installed 1 bolts where there should be 2. The arm rest were mismarked left for right. It was almost impossible to line up the bolts that hold the arms on. Here again I ended using only 1 where there should have been 2. There were some spots where the paint had chipped off. I had bout the black wood one so simple touch up with a sharpie.

Awful
While this chair appears very nice, putting it together was absolutely horrible. It was EXTREMELY difficult and irritating to assemble. Very poor instructions were given with the product on how to put it together and parts were poorly labeled. Overall, this chair was a major disappointment. DO NOT BUY this unless you want to spend hours putting it together.
