Love all the recipes.
I needed a sauce only recipe book to have on standby and this is perfect. I first borrowed it from the library and loved it so much, I bought it! Highly recommend.

Good book to a novice to start with
I have had the Sauces: Classical and Contemporary Sauce Making book for some time, but I must admit that although I browsed through this book, I was a little intimidated by sauce-making. Recently, I purchased the illustrated book on sauces which comes with mostly pictures on how to make some basic sauces. This book looses one star mainly because it does not give you any explaination on types of sauces, history of sauces or anything, but it did inspire me finally to start my own sauces which I must say came out great. It shows you how simple it is to make certain suaces that would oterwise sound a bit complex and intricate. Just note that this is a boook for a complete novice, more like a book of sauces for dummies, but quite inspirational and not pretentious.

The step by step photos were very helpful and easy to follow. I have purchased other books of this group for the same reasons. Just a big help in understanding how it is made. Thank YOu
