The Ultra Fast Dry Swim and Travel towel by Discovery Trekking is a revolutionary product that no one should be without. Top Gear reviewers agree. With 5 Star ratings, this “Editor’s Choice” is making the list of essential gear for swim, backpacking, travel and everything in between. Unlike conventional microfiber and cotton towels that absorb moisture, our innovative fabric is designed to pull water from your skin and then spread the moisture across the surface area of the fabric so it evaporates quickly. Over time odor causing bacteria can build up on conventional towels resulting in a “funky” smell. Discovery Trekking towels use an odor-resistant technology that inhibits the growth of odor causing bacteria, so they stay fresh longer. The silver antimicrobial treatment is safe for you and the environment. Discovery Trekking towels are NOT made of microfiber and will not get stiff and scratchy or leave you covered in fuzz. Our durable towels remain soft and smell fresh even when washed infrequently. These breathable towels offer high sun protection and sand won’t stick to them at the beach! The Ultra Fast Dry Towel is very lightweight and compact for travel and backpacking. Even when you can’t wash them regularly they will remain soft and luxurious against your skin. Don’t let the softness fool you, you’ll wear out long before this towel does! This is Not a typical towel, for best results don’t rub, just pat skin dry. Specifications: 3 sizes available. Be sure to purchase the size most suited to its use! The large size offers faster drying as there is more surface area to move the water, which speeds evaporation. Small (hand towel) 16"x28" 2.6oz (for a small backpacking towel or going to the gym) Medium (bath towel) 28"x34" 5.3oz (great size if space is a concern) Large (beach towel) 34"x58" 10.6oz (best for full body use) Washing Instructions: Wash Separately prior to first use. Machine Wash Separately or with Like Colors & Tumble Dry or Hang to Dry. Excessive Detergents, Body Oils, Sunscreens, Lotions and deodorants may clog fibers and reduce effectiveness of drying and antimicrobial properties. Consider using a clean rinsing Wash Detergent. Wash a few times in Warm water with no soap, or 1 cup of vinegar, or ½ cup baking soda to restore. DO NOT Bleach.

Not a toaster.
5 years ago Towel and I embarked on our first adventure. This immortal friend has stood by my side months on end, from sandy beaches to the tops of mountains. In all of this time Towel has never failed to uphold a simple promise to me; unimaginable dryness.Do I take special care when washing Towel? No.Do I use Towel to clean my pot, bicyle, tent, boots, etc? Yes.Does my faithful companion have the occasional hole? 5 human years (125 towel years) takes it toll.Does Towel develop a friendly must if not dried properly over a few days of corporeal use? Who wouldn't?Do I, on occasion, find myself with a younger, more full bodied towel? Regrettably.Towel's fabric is unlike that of any other towel (msr, etc). Interestingly enough, the extreme hygroscopicity provided by my dear old friend can only be applied to human skin; providing nearly 100% dryness with almost no effort. When applied to an artificial surface, say after an unfortunate kettle incident, Towel absorbs the bulk, however there is always that thin layer behind. This, if anything, is my single complaint. However it's overshadowed by the reassurance that being 100% dry indicates that I am indeed still human.Long live Towel.

Smells like it's been shipped in a damp cargo container
Out of the package it smells like it's been in a damp cargo container on a voyage across the Pacific for three months. Then I find out it's made of %100 Polyester. Not sure about the silver impregnation - seems like a misleading advertising gimmick. Anyway, I washed them, they didn't bleed at all but it's taking more than 8 hours for them to air dry after ringing them out (of course the speed at which they dry is directly related to how humid the air is and if they are in the sun or shade). Not any quicker than any synthetic material. Will update if characteristics improve with age.

Lightweight, soft, quick-drying for post-surgery aqua therapy
I take this towel to the physical therapy clinic where I undergo aqua therapy following surgery. It is so much better than taking a much heavier terrycloth towel as I am restricted to carrying 5 lbs. I can easily take body wash, my "grabber," a change of clothing, etc. without being concerned about the weight of a wet swimsuit and bath towel because this Discovery Trekking Outfitters Towel simply wicks away the water with hardly any effort! For anyone who is not supposed to bend, it is so easy to just brush the towel against one's legs to dry them off. I bought a similar type quick-drying towel a couple of years ago when I went to family camp with my granddaughter, but this brand is superior. It dries just as fast as the other one, but this one does not have any lingering odor. It is also soft. I highly recommend.

Great Towel for Camping/Sports
I bought this towel to use at my work's gym so I could shower in the morning but not have to lug a heavy towel to the office. The first time I used it, I was blown away. It's big enough to wrap around my body (5'11" female) and stays tucked in. While it's not a normal fluffy towel, I just wipe it over my body and it picks up 90% of the water. I usually do a second wipe down to get every last drop and my skin ends up being perfectly dry. It's soft and dries quickly (I hang it up for ~6 hours on average, sometimes less or more. After a full shower and drying wet hair, I would estimate dry time around 2-3 hours in still, 72deg air). However, the first time I washed it, I seemed to have lost some of it's magic. When I first used it, it glided right over my skin and picked up water without noticing. Now, it kind of sticks to my skin and doesn't seem to hold/pick up as much water. I know it's a microfiber, but it still feels off after washing it once. I used a small amount of mild detergent on the delicate cycle, no softener, so washing it shouldn't have been a problem. While I still love the towel, I'd recommend buyers be careful about washing and make sure you follow the directions. Can't imagine what it would turn out when not washing it correctly. In the end, I'd buy another in a heartbeat. It's a great size, packs small, dries quick, and doesn't have weird issues like some towels.

Best over sized towel ever!
Quick drying - no damp musty smell even after 2 weeks use. These were a God send at the Boy Scout National Jamboree in West Virginia where the temps were hot and the air so humid you could wring it for moisture content. They dried almost instantly whether you used them after shower, swimming or other outdoor activity. They fold up to be about the size of a sandwich size ziplock - highly portable, takes very little space but unfolds into a bath sheet sized towel.

It worked better than some of the cotton towels my friends had ...
I have used other polyester type towels and wraps that claimed to be both fast dry and absorbent. They never work well and I bought this as a camp towel for my last camping trip and I did not have high expectations. Man was I wrong. I used it to dry dishes and cookware I washed after cooking dinner and it would wick the water right off the pans. It would pull the water into it yet still feel dry to the touch. It worked better than some of the cotton towels my friends had brought. the next day I wrapped it around my head and neck while breaking down the campsite to keep the sweat out of my eyes. it kept me dry and cool and dried after a few minutes in the sun. Unlike other poly or wicking towels, this one works when completely dry. Other products will only wick away moisture once its been moistened and wrung out. this one worked great right out of the package. I'll definitely be back for more of these later.
