Medium Firemizer

I took a chance on this to see how it would work and I’m using half the amount of logs I previously used in a day. The amount I’m having to empty the ash pan has dropped and the log burner burns more efficiently. Worth the money if your log burner is on all the time but if you use night briquettes I wouldn’t advise as there no embers left in the morning to restart the fire.

Used on our wood burner - initially we weren’t excited because the product seemed to throttle back our stove however after a few days of use we realised that it was reducing log consumption and stabilising the output - a slower burn providing enough heat but logs are lasting considerably longer reducing costs.

This was purchased on recommendation from one who has tried it too. It certainly does keep the embers from our fire last longer so burning less logs. Result..

Before buying Firemizer we went through a bag of 10 logs and 2 thirds a 10kg bag of coal a night.Yesterday we used Firemizer for the first time.First of all I was disappointed at the start. The fire took ages to get going and wasn't producing as near as much heat in the first 1-2hrs. All the heat was concentrated in the middle, not across the whole bed as my fires without Firemizer are.However, as the evening progressed the base of the fire clearly became hotter and spread across the whole fire base and produceda good,steady heat. I did not need to top up the coal so only used half a bag. The same cannot be said for the logs. We still used a full bag.One bonus was that there were still hot ashes in the firebasket this morning which helped keep the chill off the room and, had I wished to, I could have restarted the fire. This will be very handy on Christmas morning.Not convinced I'll buy a replacement yet.

I must say I am disappointed by this as I had high hopes but it appears to restrict the airflow, so although the heat may be spread across the mat from left to right, no air gets in and fire dies quickly and doesn't get as hot as it used too.I saw no benefit from this at all. I would not recommend this.Now I have gone back to not using it, fire is hotter and working better.

My stove is small so I cut it in half thereby giving me 2 years use. I definitely felt a difference in heat & the residue is just like a fine dust so I don’t have to clean it out every day

This product, which seems to be made of the same fabric as wire wool, works by holding on to the fuel you put in your stove so that it burns completely, and takes longer to burn. This means you are left with nothing but fine ash, and less of that than you would have without the product. The problem I have had is with my partner, who does not understand it, and has basically wrecked it by pushing the poker through it. It's still effective but it is shrinking in size, and I doubt it will last many more "lightings". I think if you are gentle with it, it will last as long as it is promised to last. It will reduce some of the heat but you will definitely save fuel.

My neighbour recommended this and I was a sceptical at first and only tried it to be polite. But I must admit I'm very impressed! We have an open wood fire and spent a fortune over the Christmas period to keep it going. However Firemizer is a game changer. This product really retains all the embers that would usually slip through the grate and the flames are high and very beautiful- really letting the heat out. 5 star from me.
