The book was recommended by the class teacher as my child was finding English a bit difficult . I wanted something to reenforce the work being done at school. I found it easy to use for parent and child! It was also a Good reminder for myself!

This series of workbooks aim to provide practice and support in the most challenging areas of English and maths. There are English books in Grammar and Punctuation and Spelling and Vocabulary from Year 2 to Year 6, three Times Tables books and workbooks in Fractions, Decimals and Percentages from Year 3 to Year 6. This particular book is for Year 3 Grammar and Punctuation. Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling are now a major part of the Year 6 SATs and the new CEM 11+ tests emphasise vocabulary and word meaning in their comprehension and cloze tests, so the two English workbooks cover some very useful areas.Each unit covers aspects of grammar and punctuation from the National Curriculum and covers everything from capital letters and commas to organising writing, using titles and subheadings, pronouns and speech. Each unit begins with a recap of what children should already know, with a ‘warm up’ activity as a reminder. There is then a ‘getting hotter’ section , which introduces new or harder concepts. There are ‘assess and review’ pages to reinforce learning and a pull out answer section. This gives a good, basic overview of all the basic grammar and punctuation skills your child will learn in Year 3. It is just worth mentioning that this book does not cover spelling, despite the listing of the product, but there is a Spelling and Vocabulary book in the same series.

Easy to use, clear and useful activities am using some of them as independent activities during reading group time would recommend

There are some good books out there - this is ok but not the best

Very useful as a support to grammar teaching. Just right for moments when a little more practise is needed or an example doesn't spring to mind
