Oh, there's just nothing better than waking up in the morning to a relatively new coffee pot that won't make coffee! /sarcasmWe bought this maker in the middle of February and it's now barely past the middle of March; the maker is dead and it's past the 30-day return date so my Sunday morning will now be spent trying to find ANOTHER coffee maker so tomorrow morning doesn't completely suck.Also, the espresso steamer never did work perfectly as I never could get it to shut off all the way; whenever I made espresso steam would blow out no matter how hard I tried to crank the dial to off.

I purchased a reconditioned Salton EX 122 about a month ago. I thought I'd be getting a great deal, since my previous experience with reconditioned / refurbished products has been uniformly good. Not so here. The coffee maker came missing several parts, including the espresso carafe and the metal filter basket. Foolishly, I decided that it wasn't worth returning the whole item to Amazon for these two small parts, but as it turned out, these two small parts were impossible to find online. I eventually managed a partial solution, but then I encountered a much bigger challenge (at least when it comes to enjoying a nice cappuccino). On other machines I've had, the steam pressure could be directed either toward the filter basket or into the milk frother. Not so here. The steam isn't emitted through the frothing tube until practically the end of the process. So, great espresso but crappy cappuccino because the milk never gets warm and never gets frothy.The coffee maker works great, though.

It just wasn't making a good cup of coffee for me. Don't know why. I ran vinegar and water through it a couple of times and then plain water 2 times but maybe it needed even more cleaning. I didn't try the cappuchino maker so can't speak to that.Really like the idea of coffee maker and expresso together.

Stopped working after 1 month. Espresso maker just blows steam all over without trickling water down the coffee grounds receptacle. After 15 minutes of blowing, I get only 2 oz of espresso.And there's this chalky/plastic-y substance at the bottom of the water receptacle. Definitely not fit for consumption.Of course, I can't return it now. What a waste of money. It IS cheap, but there must be something structurally wrong with it.

Don't know if it's durable but the regular coffee side takes about 10 min to start brewing. The covers over the water/coffee compartments don't stay down. I have to place my mug over the coffee side so it will brew properly. The water side allows so much steam escapes that I end up with 2 cups of brewed coffee less than they water I poured in.
