Great finish
This oil produces a high gloss and is impressive of how well it works.Elbow grease and patience are necessary but if you follow the directions , the results are astounding. Brings out the grain in wood.

Quality of True oil simply varnish with less hardening agent for more working time
I had never used true oil before only varnish which is nice provided the varnish covers well and doesn't require more work time but the true oil I was very happy with quality and finishing and polished to a beautiful luster. And previous reviews said semi gloss . With small buffing wheel and very lite grade polish it was surprisingly beautiful finish.

Shiny finish
I've purchased and used Tru-Oil for years. Tru-Oil is easy to apply with a cloth or foam brush, and leaves a shiny durable finish on wood. The name having "Oil" in it is a bit deceiving though, as this product is not an oil. In fact, I doubt it contains much if any oil at all. I would equate it to being more like a wipe-on polyurethane than an oil. You can tint the Tru-Oil with a few drops of oil-based stain to achieve a slightly darker color than Tru-Oil alone. Work time is about 3-5 mins before the product starts to get gummy. Depending on the thickness of the application, the product dries fully in 18 to 36 hours. The Tru-Oil must be fully cured before applying an additional coat. Knocking the finish down with 0000 extra fine steel wool will provide a better result. The included absorbent pads come in handy to protect the work surface and are reusable. Sometimes I want less gloss and will go for a wipe-on satin finish polyurethane which is easy to apply and costs less than Tru-OIl. Like polyurethane, once the bottle is open, it will start to slowly harden and crystalize at the top of the bottle, so while a bottle may go a long way and last a long time, its useful shelf like is limited. I'd like to see Tru-Oil offered in a satin or matte finish.

It just delivers as promised.
I am restoring a 1894 Winchester made in 1904. I wanted to give the Old Winnie the most authentic look. I am very satisfied with this 1st time use with this product.

Looks fantastic
Take your time, let us dry between coats. Put last very thin coat on with your finger. After a week or so put done gun wax on it. Great results.

Awesome for knives too
I purchased Tru-Oil gun stock finish to try on a couple of knives. They had natural unfinished wood handles, which were beautiful but slippery. Followed the directions, two coats later they had high gloss, and almost sticky surface. I now have total control over my carving knives, works awesome.
