I like that this book gives practical information about events that are becoming increasingly prevalent in American day-to-day life. What to do in the event of car jackings, active shooter, home invasions, and kidnapping are all addressed in the book in a thoughtful and adaptable way. There are no simple answers because these are not simple situations but this book gives excellent guidance to help manage all the variables and give you the greatest chance of survival.The photos are a great visual reference for how to implement the tactics discussed.Gershon Ben Keren and his team once again do an excellent job helping us prepare for the worst.

As a former soldier, current police officer in a major metropolitan city and defensive tactics instructor this is a very dangerous book to put in someone’s hands. It is going to get someone hurt or killed. The tactics shown are not correct. There is no talk about or emphasis on isolating the weapon. Whether it’s a knife attack, being car jacked by someone with a gun, or an active shooter the main problem is the weapon, and that must be dealt with. This is BAD Krav Maga!!!Please don’t waste your money on this book.

Just got the book and I love it. The photos are dynamic and realistic, they do not have a "staged" feel to them. Also the accompanying text explains very well what is being done and how a technique is being performed. What I really enjoyed though is the psychological aspect of how different scenarios can unfold: with most books you are shown a technique and then another one, what is different with this book is how a scenario is broken down, what are the possible motives, the pre-conflict stage, as well as legal implications. The book really approaches self defense holistically.

Gershon is a WEALTH of knowledge and continues to apply his expertise and exhaustive research towards his third book, this one focusing on extreme survival scenarios! Hopefully it is unlikely the reader will be involved in these types of violent encounters, but if you do happen to be unlucky enough to find yourself in the midst of an active shooter event or a home invasion this is the kind of information that may make all the difference. Gershon covers all the bases, this is the stuff you didn't know you needed to know! Definitely a MUST read.

Since reading the first edition of books written by Gershon Ben Keren, I have eagerly awaited each new edition. There seems to be a 2-year interval between each publication but, it's well worth the wait. I'd love to see a series of DVDs by Mr. Keren on the subjects covered in each of his books and wouldn't hesitate to buy copies of each.

This was a really great read! Each section is well laid out and explained, and provided indepth descriptions of techniques and their application. The active shooter and home invasion chapters of this book are my favorite, and are incredibly timely with all thats going on these days. I've already begun integrating lessons and ideas from this book into my own training, and would suggest that everyone who is interested in improving their own awareness, safety, and ability to deal with dangerous situations do the same!

This book is great for those who are beginners, or those who have some understanding of the marital arts. It explains the dos, and don'ts in different scenes as well as blocks, strikes, weapons controling and disarms. Pictures are well illustrated. I wished there were arrows pointing directions of movements to make the learning process easier. I give it 5 stars because I think there's alot of informations that I was not even aware of such as; opening your car with your remote at a far distance allowing intruders to enter your vehicle, fleeing for safety when you stopped your attacher, and different stalking scenario scenes and how to deal with them.

This is a very good book, with excellent descriptions of defenses. As is common of self defense guides, the photos leave a lot to be desired. For many of these moves, you really need video clips, or at least well-lit still photographs. I am familiar with many Krav Maga street defenses, where space is not a limitation. This book builds on that knowledge, with several real-life and up-to-date scenarios in restricted spaces. It is often difficult to practice these scenarios, without frightening your neighbors! Recommend this book!

Excellent book. I use it for training of my Security guards. Practice, practice. The more you read and practice the moves the better you will get.
