I bought this book because my grandmother was Croatian and an amazing cook. She passed before she could share family recipes with me. I can’t praise this book enough. With easy to follow recipes, simple ingredients and great pictures. I can tell I’m going to use this book often. My husband and kids approved too!!

This is not your ordinary cookbook. The pictures in this book are amazing, as are the recipes. I highly recommend the Eggplant Parmesan and the Beef Stew. So good! I am quoted as saying the Eggplant Parm was the best thing I have ever tasted. I could not stop eating it. There are many other recipes that we cannot wait to try. Add this cookbook to your collection, you won't be sorry!

the book has very good information about the cuisine, and good recipes,\the book was not edited, and its layout is horrendous.however, the content is very good if you can guide yourself to the proper pagesbeing that it is too awkward to deal with.

Now that I live away from home, I crave the kind of food I grew up eating. I knew I needed this book the instant I read the title, and it definitely lives up to its name! I made the beef stew (Bosanski lonac) and it was delicious- just like my mom makes it. As far as I can tell it's got all the staples. Can't wait to try the other recipes. If you're curious about Balkan cuisine and love hearty, filling food I would definitely recommend this cookbook.

This was a wonderful introduction to the cooking of the Balkans. Recently discovered ,y Balkan roots with DNA-testing what fun.

I grew up in a Russian/Italian home and when we weren't eating pasta for dinner we were eating many dishes very similar to the ones in this book. Very well written and all finished products expertly photographed. Well done Jas!

Well composed cookbook with several core Balkan recipes. Each recipe had a picture which is very helpful.

Some of these recipes are now firm, regular favourites: flavoursome and easy to prepare.

My mother used to to make all these dishes as I was growing up. Sadly she's gone now. How I miss her and her cooking now. These recipes bring back so many memories for me , in fact I can't wait to try them. Knedle sa slive was one of my favorites.
