Best orchid book for anyone
Absolutely my favorite, most useful book on orchids. It has helped me go from a beginner orchid grower with about 10 plants to very experienced and knowledgeable, with about 100 + orchids in 2 different locations of my home, one for cool growing, miniature cloud forest species and the other for larger, warmer and light loving species. Each area has artificial lighting, humidifiers etc, and I owe the majority of my progress and design to this book. It is very well written, perfect for beginners and experienced growers alike. I still refer to this book quite frequently. I now have several books on growing orchids from Masdevallias to Slippers, but this book will continue to be the first I go to for reference on issues from growing to diseases etc. Very highly recommended for anyone infested in orchids

Great for beginners & lovely book in general
Lovely photos as others have mentioned. I am new to caring for orchids and I needed a book with the basics. I got the basics plus much more! My plants are indoor only, but I plan on hanging them outside soon enough. I like that this book gives an overview of viruses and pests.I had a very sad looking orchid about a month ago, with severely limp leaves, and wasn’t too sure why since I’m a novice. From reading the book, I figured it was either my using tap water, the light source and amount, or I was over or under watering. I switched up my watering method after reading the book and watching some videos. My orchids (all 9 phalenopsis ) are thriving with one watering/a good soak under the tap per week. I do spritz them with a fertilizer and water combo every now and then, but they’re doing great. Two have new budding aerial roots like the pics lol. I’m just surprised and elated that I haven’t killed one of them in the last 8 months! My next goal is to have the plants flower next year.I recommend the book to those interested as there’s a wealth of info to get you going on the right track!

Great book
This is my favorite orchid book. I refer to it frequently, mainly for the large section that describes a wide selection of different orchids. If you're trying to decide whether a particular orchid is right for you, this section tells you what conditions the orchid needs to thrive and how demanding or easy it is to grow, along with suggesting a few good types to try. In addition, the sections on different potting media and general discussions about light, water, and fertilizer requirements are very well-written and thorough. And it's obvious that he's a big fan of orchids. I've bought other orchid guides and borrowed some from the library, but this is the one I turn to time and again. The photos are nice, too.

Very informative
This is the only book that has taught me every single thing I was needing to know. Questions answered and more advanced answers for in the future as I hope to dig more in depth. Fantastic index I think this book has a great lay out .Great price. Nice pictures. I keep it in my near reach ,it will not collect any dust or be placed in a crowded bookshelf ! Under lined , highlighted , dog-eared , well read .Thankful I found it

Best orchid book on the market! No info on terrestrial orchids.
Pros: Has care and culture info for most epiphytic and semi epiphytic orchids. Talks about literally every type of media (even old scraps of rubber tires), watering: what type of water, ph levels, etc. In short, it's very detailed. Your phal you bought at trader joes is in for a good life if you grab a copy of this book.Cons: my only dislike of the book is that they fail to mention anything about terrestrial orchids, such as, ludisia discolor, macodes petola, or the vanilla orchid. My personal orchid journey is going in that direction and I couldn't find any info on these orchids.

Good guide for growing orchids
We've recently downsized from a home on a half-acre to a condo. Five guests brought orchids as housewarming gifts, so we needed a good book to assist us in keeping them alive and happy. This book was perfect, with good advice on varieties, 'soil' needs, how to fertilize and when to repot. Excellent resource. Thanks.

Nice book! Am not a noob anymore!
I got this book from my husband for Christmas and it's really nice! Lots of photos and info. I belong to an orchid society and many of them know the names (so.many.names.) of the plants and their crosses. This book has a lot of that info along with pictures and explanations. SO HELPFUL! I no longer sound like a noob when I'm around them!

All you need to know about orchids in one great book
This book really has it all. It walks you through all needed steps to understand orchids: the why, how, when, what and where. It is a pleasure to read, as it combines basic biology to understand the fundamentals all the way through very practical suggestions, based on experience, regarding light, water, cultivation, health, etc. It also has a very useful guide to all common orchid genus. Furthermore, the book is a pleasure to read, and always has a pinch of humor. Buy it and you will read it from beginning to end. Highly recommended.

Must have book for beginning or advanced orchid growers
By far the most comprehensive and clear book on growing orchids that I have come across. William Cullina writes from personal experience in growing orchids in a variety of situations in windowsills, greenhouses and under artificial light. The introductory sections on specific aspects of orchid cultivation - chapters on light, humidity, air circulation, watering etc. are very complete and easy to follow. The encyclopedia type section on growing particular types of orchids is also excellent. Instead of only nice photos and vague descriptions that I found in so many other orchid books, this section is full of practical tips that would be helpful to both beginners and more advanced orchid growers. Although the book is full of information - it is hardly dry. The author includes many examples from his personal experience.
