Great Idea, poor execution.
Was excited to grow mushrooms after reading about the kits.....came in the mail and I promptly opened them, followed the directions (basically you cut an X in the front of the package, set in your kitchen and mist it everyday). Within a week, the outer box packaging was a nasty wet mess (there is no avoiding this even if you are careful misting). Also, the mushroom mycelium itself became gross and didn't fruit before I got fed up and sent it back for a refund. I have since then done some research and am doing another kit (this time doing Lions Mane). This kit came in a block form with no outer packaging and instead of spraying the block directly, you actually cover it in a tent shaped plastic bag. You spray the inside of the bag instead of the mycelium/substrate itself....you keep it inside of the tent which gives the mushrooms much needed humidity. I actually took it a step farther and built a "shotgun fruiting chamber" (SEE PIC) for my mushroom block. For anyone interested, you can easily Google the term and find directions on how to do this but its quite simple....you take a plastic tote, drill 1/4" holes every 2 inches on all sides, line the bottom with a few inches of coarse wet perlite and lay the mushroom block on top of that. Viola, you have a foolproof humidity chamber that you simply mist the inside of and mushrooms will grow. This is prob more trouble than most people want to take BUT it works quite well and you can fruit multiple blocks. It also gives you a good insight as to how mushrooms can be grown on a larger scale by providing them with just the right environment....a great science experiment for kids as well. My advice to companies selling these kits is to give clients better instructions on how to provide the proper environment for these mushrooms out of the box....can imagine it would save them quite a bit of money in returned items.

Uncolonized Spawn
I ordered the Pink Oyster variety since it is the summer season and that species does best in warm weather. When I received it, I noted that the substrate was less than 50% colonized. See photos. The label on it indicated that it had been inoculated over a month earlier, so I assume it is contaminated. I returned the product for a refund through Amazon.Since I see some positive reviews, I'm guessing that this is probably just an isolated defective batch. I realize such defects can occur from time to time, but I would have hoped someone would have checked the product before shipping. Someone not familiar with growing mushrooms would have been left thinking they did something wrong when few or no mushrooms were produced or nothing but contamination grew.

Really neat kit, grows amazingly fast and delicious end result
When I got this kit, I figured that there was no way it would really be ready to harvest in the 10 days they said. But sure enough, followed the directions and this was the result 10 days later. Harvested and sauteed them with some onion and garlic, and served on top of a chicken Alfredo, and it was a hit. Can't get any fresher then that for ingredients. I'm right now chilling the bag according to the directions to see if I can get another harvest, but even if it's just a one and done it's a great product, and I fully recommend it.

Came contaminated.
First off the mycelium was not fully colonized in the substrate, it came fully colonized in trichoderma (mold) instead. Secondly the moment I opened the package it smelled awful. For the price you are selling these mushroom kits and the fact the pamphlet said "Guaranteed to fruit" I want a new box sent that is verified fully colonized, or a refund.

Do not waste your money on this it won't grow!
Products were barely innoculated with spoor. Should have been ready to fruit but wasn't. Contacted the company but no response from them. The instructions are vague so not really for a beginner who knows nothing about growing mushrooms or kids as advertised. This whole kit was messed up! Did not grow anything!

So cool!
This kit was my first mushroom experience & it’s been an absolute blast. I loved watching how fast the mushrooms multiplied & grew, it was so quick. I’m hoping to get a second crop. The shrooms taste awesome! Well worth the buy.

HUGE CROPS!
We have always had great crops with Blue Farmers mushrooms. This time absolutely did NOT disappoint! We noticed early on in the process, that the whole cake under the plastic was turning pink. I decided to experiment with it, and cut the whole opening out yesterday. Today we have the absolute biggest crop of pink oysters we've ever seen! Blue Farmers has a customer for life!

Yellow Oyster mushrooms are ready in exactly 10 days!
Look at how perfect these are!1. TECHNICAL: be ready your paper box will not hold (which it totally understandable) under extra moisture and growing weight of substrate bag. My kit came in without a watering bottle, but i had another one, and it did just great.2. GROWING:First blobs (2) appeared on the 4th day, but i have low temperature at home (62 at night and 68 during day time), and it took a little longer to develop into fully grown harvest: i believe, it it were warmer mushrooms could have grown faster. On the 8th day it became absolutely clear i am having the Yellows!During the 9th and 10th days my mushrooms very quickly gained full body-size and ready ready.3. CULINARY: Absolutely lovely! full-bodied taste, rich and delicious. Cooked with onions, small potatoes and hint of dill: in grape oil and butter. Total cooking time 45 minutes (would be just about 20 minutes if i did not add potatoes)4. OTHER: I have two very curious cats, so after the first blobs came out i had to more whole kit to a bathroom, where i used no fragrances while mushrooms were developing (that mycelium does not absorb any unwanted notes)Absolutely Love this! Such a pleasure to watch it grow!
