Delicious!
Delicious!! Oh so garlicky and tasty. These aren’t true baby eels since real ones run upwards of $100-200 a tin. These are a faux version of a fish made to look and taste like them.

Very good and good value
These are "imitation" baby eels from Spain; the real ones cost a small fortune if you can even find them, but it is honestly hard to tell the difference. This is a very popular brand in Spain. They are packed in good quality olive oil with a red pepper, actually quite mild. They can be eaten as they are, preferrably with a wooden fork or toothpick, or a fantastic Spanish recipe: on a piece of hake (merluza), simply pan fried in a little oil. Delicious!

Oily eel product
Not delicious and simply oily. Don’t expect anything for this one. No taste or aroma at all. Just feeling of oily and very tiny amount after pouring out the oil from the can. If you are not super fan of baby eel food, not recommended. Just one time experience with one can should be enough for your entire life, honestly

Immatation Baby Eels... But the Taste is Real!
The media could not be loaded. I bought these just for the novelty of eating something like baby eels. But turned out finding them to be amazingly flavorful. Just opening the can is fun when you behold the contents! Looks like a swarm of worms. Not exactly appealing to most, but you have already passed that hurdle by reading my review. These are "worm-like" extrusions of surimi, not actual eels. They are flavored with eel flavoring. Not sure where you get that :-) The oil is a nice amber color. Smell is not strong. At least not to me, but I do eat a lot of canned fish. I poured all the oil out so the "eels" are not overly slimy. They are rather delicate so you must take care in removing them or they will break. Eat them plain is fine, but I would recommend eating them on a cracker. There are no bones or scales. Even if you not sold on trying these... just keep a can in the pantry for those unexpected visits by the in-laws. Break open a can for hoes-d-orves and guarantee a short visit. You may just thank me? :-)

So so quality.
It's not bad and it's not good.

So delicious.
These are packed with nutrition and not packed with a bunch of weird chemicals. There's a tiny bit of sugar in the sauce but that's OK better than other brands with weird preservatives. I prefer the skinless sardines, just a personal preference. These are still firm and simply delicious right out of the can. I love having these on the shelf! yum. I want a tin of them right now!

These are very small eels. I can understand why they are praised highly in many parts of the world.
I like sardines. These eels are much milder and make nice housd'oeuvres. Some guests said they looked like worms and wouldn't try them even though they ate the other larger eel plates.
