I was VERY skeptical about a fire source like this without some sort of fluid/combustable but I was extremely surprised! Opened the box, pulled a little of rope out, used my BIC lighter to give the initial burn. Left it lit 🔥 for about 10 seconds , pulled the rope down to smother out the flame, and then tried it on its own and BOOM. I lit 🔥 a cigar with it, zero problems. Everyone should have one of these laying around. It could really come in handy. Remember Tom Hanks in Castaway, rubbing sticks together? I easily give this 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This brass will last for a lifetime and the only thing you would need much later on is a new flint, but I add a flint to my zippo maybe twice in a year (under daily use), and this rope is super long. Definitely add this to cart. It would be a sweet stocking stuffer around the holidays, or just a “thinking of you” gift. We ❤️ It. 🔥

This is such a neat little tool. Bought entirely on a whim but very cool for lighting things that can catch like a car lighter could. You wont get a flame on this thing and the safety extinguisher is the integrated ball bearing. Blow on the embers to catch the rope. With appropriate tinder I can start a proper fire (e.g. dryer lint or a dash of gunpowder.

Loving Dolphin products. This rope lighter works like it is supposed to. Spark wheel is aggressive, throws good sparks, and is the correct distance from the wick to set the ember. I have some history and experience with these. I have a few antique versions. SOME new ones you buy online, they couldn't have ever tested, pitiful garbage. These ( Dolphin brand) actually work. Also big kudos for their stand alone spark wheels. I ended up buying 8 or so of those for kits. My only complaint is that Dolphin brand doesn't seem to emboss or otherwise mark their products. If you squint at the depiction you can see "Dolphin" on the lighter. That is not on my lighter or spark wheels but is stated as such on the packaging. Go mighty Dolphin!

Cool reproduction. Not large enough for a cigar but would work for cigarettes or put it in a bushcraft survival pack.

this is great. It is an reusable lighter with sustainable materials that do not require any fuel other than the cotton rope and flint that can be recovered from any spent disposable lighter. I am very pleased with this item And as a review stated that this is toxic, my answer is that NO it is NOT toxic, as it is made of cotton and is a plant fiber. While it is a plant, I would refrain from inhaleing the smoke from it, but it does NOT release any toxic chemicals, any more than if you burn a piece of wood.

Fantastic product! Works exactly as described. Just light the end of the rope on fire before you try to use this so you have a charred rope end to catch the sparks.

This is a nice lighter. It'll last for years and years.My one gripe: It's not great for indoor use. It throws sparks and embers. But that's fine, I now have an excellent outdoor lighter that I know will work even in windy weather. Definitely taking this with me next time I go camping or spend some time outdoors.
