Salton CP1428W Hot Air Corn Popper, White

After purchasing 2 other hot air poppers from Target and Walmart and returning them because more kernels shot out all over the kitchen unpopped, I decided on this one on Amazon based on other reviews and the way it looked. It's great. Usually only 5-6 kernels remain unpopped and I think they come out on the tail of a popped kernel. Everything lands in the bowl, unless one decides to pop mid-air on it's way out and then it flies to the floor or on the counter. That's to be expected with a hot air popper. But at least I don't have to chase all over the kitchen to get 1/3 or more of the kernels that I started with. It's a keeper and it gets used on a regular basis with no problems.

machine works fine but the lid does not fit on or attach so the popcorn lifts to top off and goes everywhere if you don't hold it

It doesn't seem to be any better or worse than any other model I have owned in the past.

Pops great without burning but the popcorn wasn't as crisp on the outside as I like.

really nice pops all the kernels....little butter melter fell into the popper at one point after emptied,and smoked a bit when turned on..would say to be careful so it doesn't fall in....

I didn't have the positive results others have. Popcorn shot everywhere.

A quality popper. However, popcorn flies out because the top part doesn't come down far enough.

Works well. Says to put 1/3 of a cup of popcorn in it-----that is what it means-----pops them all and pretty fast.

This is a terrible product, my only recommendation is to avoid it. I bought the popper so my children could make popcorn without using the stove. On its first usage, we added the capful of popcorn and turned it on. After about 1 minute corn began to pop, but the machine ejects nearly half the kernels unpopped, they simply blow out with the popping kernels. The first batch produced approximately 2 cups of popped corn. We added another capful of popcorn and tried again. After popping out about 1 more cup, the unit overheated and shut off. You couldn't use this machine for family movie night, or a gathering of adults, it won't produce enough popcorn for a couple of young kids. Not sure what I'll try next, but this machine is already on its way back. Save yourself the trouble and buy a difference machine.

Lots of people seem to comment on unpopped kernels being kicked out of units like this. That strikes me as something that will happen with any hot air popper, which relies on blowing super hot air through spinning kernels. The problem is surely less the fresher the popcorn is. The instructions mention the freshness issue quite a lot. Because of that spin and blow method, it is also important not to overload. Underload is probably not good either. Again, the instructions call for 1/3 cup of kernels, and I would respect that.We bought the "used" one, which turned out to be totally unused and in the original box with original instructions. It must have been just opened by someone, returned, and resealed. We see that the price of a "used" one has jumped 7% since last week, however.

Pops great however the plastic lid is very light and finicky to set on top the popper.

Made delicious popcorn, but it was flying all over the kitchen. I know that airpoppers always have a few rouge kernels that fly out of the bowl, but this was way to much. However, was able to send it back for a full refund.

Popcorn tastes great without the added fat
