Wish we could buy just the hinges!@
We have purchased 7 of these seats over the past 5 years. We love the color. The unfortunate part is that you can't really sit on the seat when both the seat and top because the hinge breaks after about 4 - 6 months. I now have a selection of seats and tops, but can't use them because you can't just buy a hinge to replace a broken one. Am I wrong and could buy just a hindge to fix a broken seat?

Review for Walnut, Mahogany, and Dark Brown Brushed Nickel Elongated Designer Solid Wood Comfort Seats. C1B1E- (16, 18, 19)BNThese toilet seats are driving me nuts and now I understand why the reviews contradict each other. The hardware has changed and reviews should include the color purchased instead of scrambling them all together. Here is what I have learned and experienced from multiple toilet seats received and returned.COLORS - All very shiny, show and attract dust, but pretty.Walnut- might as well be black. Whether 150 watt lights or out in the sunshine, it is black, no sign of wood grain or walnut tones. There are many less expensive and better made black seats. Don't bother at this price.Mahogany - A medium dark cherry red, grain does show well on mine. Very pretty color but way too purple/red to match any wood that is mostly brown with a touch of red, so didn't work for me. Clashes with both teak and espresso wood if you have any in your bathroom close by.Dark Brown - A dark espresso brown, grain does show. Matches Kohler Woodland perfectly. Seat is a bit lighter in color than the cover on mine. This is the one that matches my vanity.HARDWARE - There seems to have been a change here recently. One I got from another vendor that advertises heavily on HGTV had completely different hardware with same model number. The brushed nickel finish was more satiny and much better quality than the Amazon one. The photos above showing the hinges with 2 washers and a nut on the bolt match the ones I got from the other vendor. The Amazon Brushed Nickel ones I received this week in both Mahogany and Dark Brown are different. They might as well be called badly chrome finished rather than brushed nickel, way too shiny. Fortunately you don't really see much of them standing in the bathroom. On the W one the seat didn't wiggle, it had rubber stoppers between the seat and toilet and the cover, better plastic nuts and washers, and the inside cover had an ugly white oval "Comfort Seat" label on it. The Amazon ones wiggle more, have hard plastic seat and toilet bumpers (in fact mine came with a dent in the seat already just from shipping, I may return but figure I'll dent it myself just sitting on the cover), the cheapest toilet plastic nuts and washers I have ever seen (came in a plastic bag), and a tiny burnt in black "Comfort Seat" label on the inside cover (an improvement). Not sure which version the reviews are complaining about since mine are too new. Either they have changed the specs or Amazon is getting scaled down seconds.COMFORT AND FIT - It's a flat wood toilet seat, no butt shaped contours or anything. For me this seat is much more comfortable than the thin plastic butt shaped one that came with my Kohler Santa Rosa toilet. Length wise, perfect fit on the Santa Rosa by the way. Makes a loud crash sound if you drop the seat or cover down with the hard plastic bumpers. Don't put it in a bathroom young kids use.Overall I am giving this Amazon bought Comfort Seat 3 stars, assuming it will last a while. Down to 2 if it doesn't at this price.Quality control - 2 stars Mine came with a dent and scratches already on the top of seat from rubbing against the top cover bumper during shipping. Hardware is more chrome than brushed nickel (two different seats with BN labeling), connectors are cheap plastic crap, bottom of seat has some strange pattern defects as well but it doesn't show with the seat down.Looks - 5 stars, When you get the color you want, it's a smart looking seat and it is slim pickings for wood seats these days. Definitely the best looking (only) espresso wood elongated seat I could find anywhere.Price - 3 stars, even if not marred with the cheaper hardware it should be a $40 seat, not $60. If it only lasts a year or two, it should be more like $30.So overall 3 to 3 1/2 for this product. Usual fast delivery and excellent return policy from Amazon. Other vendor charged $9 return shipping for the return.UPDATE: lowered rating to 2 stars since I ended up returning it. Dents from the lid developed on both sides of the seat (one side came that way) from the bumpers as I suspected and they are getting deeper, the seat being so flat really isn't very comfortable because it digs in on the inside edge, and if it the edge chips the undercoating is bright white. At first I thought it looked classy but now I thinks it looks like it is trying too hard to be classy but can't cover it is rather poorly made and designed. Maybe the older models were better but this is no way worth $63.

Great deal
Paid way more for same product at Lowes. Had to return it because I ordered the wrong shape from them but found the right shape in the same style here on Amazon and am very happy with the product so far 😁

Buy it!
I love love love this toilet seat. I also ordered a few different manufacturers for my other two bathrooms. When they arrived they were not the same quality as this one although comparable in price. I'm calling them the next business day to see if they have other wood colors. It's beautiful, shiney, easy to keep clean and looks clean all the time, durable and very classy. Buy it.

Great Toilet Seat but Seat Wiggles, Plastic Nut Stripped - Fixed Both
The wood finish is exceptional on this seat but the hardware and instructions could be better. Let's start with instructions - none really. The nut goes on the bottom, the small plastic piece goes on top with flat side facing up. Next up, hardware, the plastic nut stripped when tightened. I fixed this problem by adding stainless steel nuts behind the plastic nut on the bottom side of the toilet - Done! Second, the toilet seat wiggled too much even when the base screws didn't move. This is due to the fact that the rod that the seat and lid rotate on is too small for the diameter of the holes in the lid hinge and seat hardware. Leaving the seat in place, I fixed this by taking the 2 screws off the seat hinge to release the seat from the rod and also the 2 screws off one of the lid hinges moving it towards the center between the 2 anchor screws. I then slid the rod to one side to the point that it was pulled just beyond the mounting screw. I grabbed some 5/8" wide copper tape with adhesive backing that I had and did 2 turns on each end of the small rod and put everything back together. It tightened up nicely and the copper tape was hidden by the hinges. So the rod that the seat and lid pivot on is too small for the drilled openings in the hardware in my opinion. And the hardware that is used to secure the seat to the toilet is less than optimal. I liked the hardware that came with the Mayfair 19602NI 178 Natural Reflections Wood Veneer Toilet Seat with Brushed-Nickel Hinges but that seat chips leaving white spots and the brushed Nickel hardware coating cracked and peeled. But that hardware had a plastic piece surrounding the bolt that dropped through the toilet hole to secure the seat better and prevent the base hardware from wiggling even when the nut was loose. And the hinge tolerances for back and forth wiggle were tighter as well.Edit: [2 months later] The hard plastic pieces on the lid have made small 1/2" round indentations into the seat surface. From the reviews, this looks like a hardware defect where the stand-offs between the lid and the seat need to be either larger to distribute the weight or of a softer material for normal opening and closing.

Just as advertised
Great colour and will match new bathroom perfectly.

Perfect
Bought this because my old seat was so flimsy you couldn’t sit on it when the lid was closed and it needed to be tightened all the time to keep the seat firmly in place. This one is so solid an elephant could sit on it, and I have not had to tighten the screws since I installed it many months ago. Brass hinges instead of plastic. Well worth the investment.
