Fit, style, feel all excellent. A quality hat.

I don't know why the description says "women's" on it now, because it didn't used to, but I got this hat years ago and have taken it all over the place on various camping, hiking, and backpacking trips. It is brilliant at both sun and water protection and, while oilskin isn't the most breathable thing in the world, I took it to a humid forest in eastern Texas in the middle of the summer and it wasn't uncomfortable. I love that it has snaps on either side so you can keep either, both, or neither side of the brim out of the way. Plus having one end of the hat pinned up just makes it look cooler. the material is extremely sturdy and crushable, which makes it super easy to shove into a pack, and I haven't had any issues with deformation of the cap or rim from this at all. Overall an excellent hat that I would highly recommend to take anywhere.

Haven’t used it yet but was looking for a safari hat and found all the features very apt—- breathable, sun protection crushable/ packable, sweat wicking, keep cool in hot weather, rainproof, chin strap, while looking sharp instead of frumpy/ sloppy. Vendor also patient as we figure out our sizing. Medium still a bit large but using 2 3M hat adjusting strips made it fit perfectly without slipping. Fast delivery. Thank you!

I am a hat person and an outdoorsman. I have plenty of hats I use for fishing,kayaking,hiking,etc. This is by far my favorite hat. The quality and comfort of this hat is fantastic. I have hats I've paid alot more money for. This one is the best I own.All of my hats are size large. Most fit perfect and a few are a little big. I found this large hat to fit perfect so I'd say the sizing is spot on.The hat looks nice and is so comfortable I don't realize I have it on. I wore it to a carnival last night and I had quite a few people comment on it.I want to add....I was hesitate to purchase this hat on Amazon. I've bought a similar style hat on Amazon and it came smashed in a plastic bag. Nice way to ship a hat even if it is packable. I also saw a previous reviewer here say this hat was shipped to them flat. I am happy to say this time my hat came in a box. I'm not sure this hat would look good after a prolonged smashing.

I very rarely write a product review but I'm very pleased with the quality of this hat! I'm sure that it will be my go to hat for years to come, beginning with hiking the John Muir Trail this summer. It's definitely 5 stars!

Terrific hat. I drop it one star due to lack of sizing. Small, Medium, & Large do not always cover everyone. For a few dollars more I would still buy this hat if it came in exact hat sizes. However, I will say that when working outside the extra room provides space for an extra article of clothing to either catch sweat or to provide more warmth. I work outside all day everyday in Tucson AZ, where it seems to always be sunny. The shape and width of this hat provides very good coverage from the sun. It's an improvement over a typical floppy boonie type hat. I wore this hat while pressure washing fascia boards in preparation for painting. The hat really is waterproof. I only felt a few drops come in through the grommets for the string.If you have trouble finding a good place for the string here is what works best for me. Loosen the string and pull both loops towards the back of the hat in one hand. Hold the front of the hat with the other hand. Place the two loops behind your head just below the skull. Position the hat on your head where it is comfortable. Now, tighten the string with both loops in the same place at the base of your skull behind your head. If done properly this will keep the hat on your head.Cleaning is very easy. My hat was covered in saw dust and had some spots of glue on the brim. I used a wet terry type cloth to get all the saw dust and other gunk off. I used a clean section of the cloth to wipe the sweat band thoroughly. To really get the sweat band clean at the end of the week I use a damp cloth with a drop of laundry soap. I use a dry cloth to get the hat as dry as possible, then finish it by hanging it in front of a fan for about 10 minutes. the whole cleaning process at the end of the week takes about 15 minutes.

Love this hat! I've worn a couple of fedoras for backpacking, fishing and other outdoor activities. When the time came to replace my last fedora, I was living in a windy region and wanted something that worked better in the wind. The strap behind the head works great, and of course the strap under the chin can be used on the really gusty days. The crush ability will be nice once I begin travelling by air again. I haven't been in the rain yet, but I do not have any concerns over the water proofing. The weight is light for the size of hat and the fit is as expected.

This hat is prefect! It's relatively lightweight, especially considering the large brim and all the hardware. Completely waterproof as well. Works great keeping water or sun off my head & neck. Considering how waterproof it is, it also doesn't get too hot on my head.I'd say this hat is primarily for protection from precipitation. It keeps your head protected from the sun, but there are better sun hats out there. It's breathable, but there are cooler hats available. This hat does a great job keeping your head dry, while also being relatively light & cool.

This hat was a B/Day gift for my Son. He's an avid canoer & hiker which is why he wanted this hat. He said it fits great & he loves the wider brim which will help keep the rain out of your eyes & off your shoulders. It's also water repellent which is great too.

They say you only get what you pay for and that is true of this hat. It is very well made and just shouts, quality. It's robust yet moulds perfectly to your head. It's water proof and it stays on well in windy conditions. I just love it.

This is a fairly superior hat. My son wore the identical hat in size Medium for some years, so we got him a replacement. The Large size that we got this time seems to be no bigger!
