Hydrocate - Hydrocolloid Dressings (bandages) absorbs wound exudate and creates a moist environment which supports the body’s healing process and aids in the removal of nonviable tissue from the wound (autolytic debridement) without damaging new tissue. Hydrocolloid dressings are water-proof and stay on even when wet. The aim of this type of dressing is to provide a moist healing environment and insulation while using the body’s own moisture and enzymes to keep the wound bed hydrated for proper wound healing. Hydrocolloid dressings are used for pressure ulcers (also known as bed sores). They are used in the treatment of eczema, to seal steroid ointment underneath and to provide a barrier against scratching.
