Heiden Battery Powered Single Watch Winder in Burlwood

The pad that holds the watch needs to be larger , I have a large wrist and the watch fits on the pad too loose.

The actual watch box is beautiful. The problem is, it won't keep the watch running. It does not wind the watch enough to keep it running. I have a Cartier Tank, and it may be the watch. However, i just had it serviced and it runs perfect. I am thinking of returning it.

This is my second Heiden winder. I purchased one last year (covered in black leatherette) to keep in my safe to wind the watch I don't wear often. I ended up never putting that one in the safe and using it on my dresser for my daily wear watch to keep it wound on the weekend and days that I work from home. This winder was been great and is very quite. I just got my "safe" watch back from service and decided I needed another one of these to actually put in the safe this time. The burlwood is nice but I have to admit that I only chose it b/c it was the cheapest of this style of Heiden winder by $20 under the black and $40 under, my favorite, the Walnut version. It is hidden in my safe after all and I had a special plan for this one...The winder is good sized and the door swing makes it need too much height to open it without removing the entire winder from the safe. Because this is in the safe, it really doesn't need the door, so I removed it. I cut the lining on the inside back of the door and carefully peeled it off the door side to have a flap to cover where the hinge was. I was expecting the small piano hinge to be screwed in but it is just slotted into the wood and can be carefully worked out of the groove. Then I used some double sided tape to hold the flap to the back of the winder. Took about 2 minutes to make the modification .

I received my winder case on time. However, it did not come with the power cord and I tried two different sets of batteries in it and it never did turn on. It was pretty wood but poorly made and did not function so I sent it back for a refund.

I have had this product for about two weeks. I keep it in a walk in closet without access to an electrical outlet so it is running on 2 D cell batteries. It is running flawlessly and silently and keeping my Rolex fully operational and accurate. At another home I have used a much more expensive winder for many years and while that has operated without a problem, it makes enough of a noise to be annoying at times and for some reason casts a light which reflects off the ceiling and which I find to be equally annoying. I would recommend this product to anyone.One caution. I have been told by a fine watchmaker who completely overhauled my watch that he thinks long term use of these devices is not good for the watch and causes wear on the mechanism. Other experts (who I do not know) have an opposite opinion, but this fellow is sufficiently convinced that he stopped selling winders. With that caution, I tend to use the winder when I am not wearing the watch for a few days, but if I do not intend to wear a watch for weeks or months, I will leave it in a drawer an reset it when I need to use it. That way I have the convenience of not needing to reset frequently and the comfort in knowing I am not exposing an expensive timepiece to excessive wear and tear.

I ordered this for my husband's new Rolex. I like the fact that it has multiple settings for clockwise, counterclockwise, or bi-directional (which Rolex requires). The case seems well made. I can't tell if it is truly wood - but it looks very nice nonetheless. The holder for the watch seems to fit snugly. And the mechanism seems to work well. We have had it a week. One thing I noticed in reviews of other watch winders (not this one) is that they fail within a few months. Fingers crossed.

I bought this for my wife who has a watch that would run out of gas every night. She loves it and can't believe how beautiful it is.
