I make homemade wine. I thought how cool it would be to make homemade cheese to go along with the wine. I thought making cheese would be a lot more complicated. Carson has put my worries at ease by explaining how simple cheese making can be. He also included a good section on troubleshooting. I've started out with making a simple soft cheese. Depending on the outcome, I'll look into investing in a cheese press. I'm sure several of the butter recipes will make their way into my kitchen as well.

This is a very useful and highly comprehensive book which will teach you pretty much everything you need to know about making your own healthy cheese, butter, and yogurt. Carson Wyatt does a great job at covering every step of the process. Moreover, he explains everything in a clear, concise manner, which will make things quite easy for you as a beginner. Definitely recommended!

As a beginning cheesemaker, I found this book totally useless. Instead of purchasing it, just take your $15 and throw it in the trash. That's where my copy wound up. To call this a beginner's "guide" is simply a joke. It's little more than a collection of recipes that are probably available on the internet. The very first "beginner" recipe calls for sheep's milk and requires 60 days to produce. The second uses goat's milk. As a beginner I'm looking for recipes that give more immediate feedback and use more readily accessible ingredients. If you're looking for step by step instructions, easy methods or even simple tips, this is not the book for you.Butter recipes? Fifteen of them. One for actual butter and then 14 different things to mix into it.A less kind person than myself would call this book a ripoff. Save your money. There has to be better books out there.

Pretty good starter book for cheese and more. Has step by step on how to run the cheese and also the butter and yogurt. Enjoy

I love this book! It's VERY basic...which is exactly what I needed! Other books "assume" I knew a LOT more than I actually do! This one is perfect for the beginning beginner....like ME! Whoooeeee!
