Fantastic, high quality and elegant
Added this to my canvas pipe roll. I am honestly shocked at the quality of this knife. For the price I wish I could give it 8 stars. Thing is bad ass. To use it as a tamp, just turn it upside down

THIS is what I've been looking for!
This little knife is well crafted, well put constructed, beautifully finished and, as advertised, VERY sharp! I've bought a couple of these pipe smokers' tools and this is by far the best. Not terribly expensive, no, but it just FEELS like it's solidly built and finished by someone who knew what they were doing. The bolster liners are brass and the whole thing is polished and beautiful. The other two I've had, I could feel that they were cheaply made from inexpensive materials. I guess smoking a pipe isn't as popular as it once was and as a result there's not a huge market for tools like this, a niche market if you will, and as such I'm glad I found this.

This thing gets a lot of pocket time.
I like it. Yes you have to open the pick and the blade to use this as a tamper. So in my opinion it is not a real replacement for a tamper. However as a knife it is pretty good. I'm was not a fan of the cheap 440 stainless steel until I stopped trying to sharpen it on a stone and just started using a pull through like I do with most of my kitchen knives. I have only had to sharpen this knife once and have just stropped it every since. It is razor sharp and has become the knife I prefer to EDC. I still carry my Benchmade Bugout but I find myself using the Pipe Doctor most. I can pull it out and no one pays attention. I can not say the same about my Bugout. If you are looking for a neat novelty or a discreet pocket knife that appeals to the delicate sensibilities of those who lack the calluses on their hands to hold a high opinion of those who labor for a living then this is the knife. 4 stars because the the blade has twisted some with daily use. After 3ish years of daily use.

Suprised how nice this is
I usually prefer to purchase American and European made pocket knives given the option, but RR was the only maker available with this pattern. It has a suprisingly nice F&F given the price point (it's as nice as any of the case knives I own which cost 2x-5x as much) and it has half stops, which is a feature I love in traditional pocket knives. My only 2 (minor) complaints are 1) In order to use the bottom of the knife as a pipe tamper, both the blade and pipe tool need to be opened or in the half position, but using the top of the knife as a tamper when the knife is closed works fine too. 2) While I normally love and prefer a wharncliffe shape, I believe as a knife meant to be used as a pipe tool, a spey or even a spear point blade would have worked better so it could be used as a more efficient pipe reamer. Overall I'm pleasantly surprised and would definitely buy again and plan on purchasing more RR knives in the future.
