Beautiful
I haven't read the manga but I've seen the anime when I was younger. I remember being obsessed with it and Ultra Maniac. The art is so beautiful and the story is heartwarming and fun

So good
~4-4.5/5[More of my reviews are available on my blog, Geeky Reading, to which there's a link on my profile.]I read this series back when it was first released by CMX, and really enjoyed it. It’s still, I think, my favorite of Tanemura’s series (possibly followed by Full Moon O Sagashite). I was excited upon hearing of the re-license, particularly because they were bigger editions with color pages. I still own my original edition, so I’m not sure if I’m going to buy each of the new ones, but I might. They’re just so pretty; it's going to be much too hard to resist, I think.I haven’t read the series since back when I first bought it, so it was refreshing getting to re-read it. And it’s still just as good as back then, too, which makes me happy. The artwork is clearly her earlier stuff, but it’s still really pretty, and really well done. And I’ve always liked the eccentricity of Tanemura’s art, the costumes and the backgrounds, the flowers. It’s just so nice to look at.I love Jeanne; she’s a great heroine, stubborn, a little naïve, but good-hearted, and wanting to be loved. Chiaki is a very nice love interest. I like seeing his developing feelings for Jeanne, in particular. They have a bit of a forbidden romance going, both in denial but also working on different sides to right evil. I’d honestly forgotten how they met, and their forbidden romance thing. How they meet is adorable. And the forbidden romance is important, and there, but they’re really the only ones worried about it, and in denial of it. But it’s so obvious how things are going to work out on that end.Jeanne sends notes to let the owner of the artwork know when she’s going to “steal” the work of art (when she’s really getting rid of the demon and replacing it with a different, pure picture). Those scenes are a bit exaggerated and cheesy, but it’s kind of a quirky theme to the series. It goes with the humor. And mostly it just makes me feel nostalgic.Jeanne and Chiaki both have fairy (or angel) companions, Finn and Access, respectively. I’m a rather big fan of both of them. They’re sweet, and also a little adorable (Access in particular), and help the two out a lot.Quite a bit happened in this volume, especially a lot in the ways of romance. Including a bit of a cliffhanger, or an anxious ending leading to more. It’s a definite enticement to pick up the next volume, that's for sure.A review copy was provided by the publisher, VIZ Media, and Erik Jansen from MediaLab PR. Thank you so, so much!

Really great short series
I really loved this manga a lot, one of the first I ever bought actually. It's only 5 books in the series, a pretty quick read. The characters and plot were very well developed. I think the age recommendation is pretty accurate. I never the less, found enjoyment in reading this series. When Maron and Chaiki were starting to develop feelings for each other, it made you immediately start to root for the little relationship they might have possibly. The whole thing about them being "forbidden lovers" was also pretty clever. I did like the way it ended though, I just thought the overall story was well thought through. I've let a couple of my friends borrow the books, and so far, everyone has loved the series. I think this is a good manga to start out with if you haven't read one before. The only thing is, sometimes the panels are a little difficult to navigate so that would be my only down side. I enjoyed this series so much, and this is defiantly a great buy.

Great Start!
Still on my search for a second shoujo series to read, Library Wars being the only current one I follow. The publisher's blurb intrigued me here: art theft, demons hiding in paintings and a second Thief who comes along to compete with Jeanne. Once I started reading though, I found this description hardly did the book justice. Maron is the reincarnation of Jeanne d'Arc and has been given an angel who guides her in the God-given duty to replace paintings in which demons have been hidden to wreak havoc on those who own them. This is a great story involving the art world, some paranormal, a pseudo-Christianity theme along with crime and burglary. Then along comes a handsomely good looking classmate who ends up being another Phantom Thief only he wants to get the same paintings before Maron does. Thief Sinbad knows Thief Jeanne's real identity and they soon have a mutual romantic interest. While it appears Sinbad is the bad guy, I feel things may not be what they seem at this point. I loved the story with so many topics and themes, the romance was very light (just how I like it), with character and plot being more important. I already like the main characters and found the illustration to be very pretty. I'm hoping the next volume carries on in the same manner as this is an intriguing opening and is the most promising shoujo I've read in ages!

La obra más conocida de Arina Tanemura
En está nueva edición de parte de VIZ cada volumen es más grande que la edición anterior de CMX, los volúmenes pasan de siete a cinco, con nuevos diseños de portada y hojas a color.

arina tanemura does it again!
okay, so this is a re-release of one of arinas earlier titles, but in this version the book count has been reduced from 7 books to 5 books, because they had made each of them slightly bigger. the book is just shy of 250 pages so its not a noticeable difference, but it means that you are able to get through the story quicker. in comparison to the original release the images are sharper, and i love the colour illustration in the front. i cant wait for the rest of the series to be released, i hope they all have one. this book is by one of my favourite manga authors and is a great buy for lovers of the magical girl genre.

Phantom Thief Jeanne 1
As always, another excellent title from the pen of Arina Tanemura. However, this is not quite as new as it seems. ASIN:1421565900 Phantom Thief Jeanne 1 is a reprint of the CMX published Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne. Having said that, it is a considerable improvement. The artwork is sharper, with a color insert at the front, and the translation, which is new, reads very well. Better still, Viz have squeezed in six chapters, as opposed to the original four. As a long time fan of Ms. Tanemura, I shall purchase the rest, and replace the previous editions on my shelf, hence a five star rating.
