Right out of the box this thing feels legit.I went with the Venge 51 mm. Fits perfectly on the Delonghi portafilter for the ECP3420. Stainless steel base has a great weight that adds a robust feel to the tool. The brass trim splashes nicely with the dark mocha wood finish. The diameter and logo are lazer etched on the stainless steel leaving a nice precise texture on the markings. I found conistently tamping and polishing with this tool to be a pleasure. The base unscrews to reveal a three piece design with the brass ring and wood handle separating easily for cleaning. The only worry I have is when i screwed the base and handle together, hand tightening, I felt a skip of the threads stripping. The threads in the wood contacting with the steel insert are not durable and may not withstand a single overtightening, or years of disassembly. This has stood the test of time, no wear and tear, no rust, just as if it’s brand new. Feels great and heavy (as it should be) and works exactly as needed.

My new espresso machine has an odd size portafilter, 57mm instead of the standard 58. That one mm difference meant I had to abandon my excellent tamper and find a new one. There are very few available at this size. This seemed like the best and it is a very nice one. It's about half the weight of my old tamper, which I miss, but has a very nice looking and feeling wooden handle, which I like. All in all, I recommend it.

Solid built

Nice finish, heavy, solid wooden handle that fits well in your hand. Overall, a great product.I bought the 51mm and it fits ok in the coffee basket. Probably for my needs (Delonghi Dedica, with an aftermarket non-pressurised basket bought from amazon.com) a 51.5 mm would have been even better, but that has nothing to do with the quality of the tamper.

This tamper is very stylish and extremely well refined. The perfect compliment for my new Elektra Microcasa espresso machine. It also arrived in only two days.

The look is beautiful, and the quality is very sturdy; the best part is the weight of this Tamper. It works very very well.
